As a Packaging Materials Intern at Nestlé Research, your mission is to investigate how an oxygen-scavenging coating can improve the long-term performance of packaging materials. You will make a difference by collaborating closely with packaging scientists, material specialists and laboratory experts. How you’ll make an impact as a Packaging Materials Intern 

• Confirming the oxygen-scavenging action of an innovative coating used in packaging materials. 

• Generating laboratory data on how temperature and humidity influence the oxygen-scavenging rate. 

• Evaluating the scavenging capacity of the material to support reliable packaging performance over time. 

• Building a model to simulate the evolution of oxygen transmission through coated packaging materials. 

• Identifying potential scavenging mechanisms through analytical techniques such as fluorescence oxygen sensing, thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy and oxygen transmission rate testing. 

What will make you successful 

• Current student or fresh graduate in material science or a relevant field, and an interest in packaging materials, coatings and oxygen barrier performance. 

• Being comfortable working in a laboratory environment, with a careful, curious and safety-conscious approach. 

• Having an analytical mindset and, as a plus, previous exposure to fluorescence oxygen sensing, thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy or oxygen transmission rate testing. 

• Bringing fluency in English; French is an asset. 

• Demonstrating courage, collaboration, speed and continuous learning.
