As a Senior Specialist in Physical Health and Metabolism, your mission will be to develop natural bioactives solutions and lead research activities for various health benefits including promoting physical energy and metabolism, and healthy aging in adults and pets.

A Day in the Life of a Senior Specialist in Physical Health and Metabolism

 

  • Lead and develop concepts in bioactive nutrient discovery for various health benefits including promoting physical energy (in particular, in muscle and kidney), (cardio)metabolic health and healthy ageing in adults and pets
  • Characterize mechanism of action of ingredients with an emphasis on metabolic sensing, mitochondrial bioenergetics and physical energy
  • Lead experimental strategies and coach research assistants for cellular, c. elegans / model organism and preclinical experiments 
  • Provide expert opinion on bioactive discovery, metabolism and translation
  • Communicate scientific discoveries to internal stakeholders and at external conferences    
  • Publish scientific articles and file patents
  • Build and maintain an external network with academia and start-ups/CROs to enable a competitive research program      

 

What will make you successful

 

  • PhD and at least 5 years of postdoc experience
  • Track-record of scientific productivity and innovation in nutritional translation or drug discovery 
  • Background in Biology with experience on bioenergetics in various tissues to improve metabolic health and promote healthy ageing
  • Experience in cellular mechanism elucidation of bioactives/drugs in vitro as well as in model organisms and pre-clinical experiments, with C elegans experience a major plus
  • Proven ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Passion for translational science with ability to communicate impact of research achievements for health management to non-expert audiences
  • Previous experience in industry or collaboration with start-ups/industry would be a plus
  • Fluent in English (both written and oral)
