Position Summary

 

Nestlé Research is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, employs approximately 1000 people and is comprised of five Nestlé Institutes: Material Sciences; Health Sciences, Food Safety & Analytical Sciences ,Packaging Sciences and Agricultural Sciences. As a Technician, you will plan, execute and report laboratory, experimental kitchen and pilot plant activities according to project planning, in compliance with good laboratory practices and safety rules.
This position is placed in the Nestlé Institute of Material Science within the Colloidal Systems team. We are a team of around 15 people innovating in the area of complex fluids, emulsions and foams. Always dedicated to drive research and development of new and exciting food and beverage products.

A day in the life of a Technician in Colloidal Systems

 

  • Plan and execute design of experiments in the laboratory according to projects objectives and timeline 
  • Summarize high quality results to share them with project team and stakeholders
  • Use creativity to generate ideas for new food and beverage product concepts
  • Develop and prepare corresponding food and beverage prototypes to validate ideas in tastings with the team and consumers
  • Proactively contribute to technical knowledge building and leverage it internally through training and coaching
  • Work in collaboration with other technicians and scientists on various projects in parallel
  • Responsible for Quality, Safety, Health and Environment (QSHE) within own area
     

What will make you successful

 

  • Practical experience as technician working in research project teams, in the area of food materials, emulsions and foams or related product areas (e.g. cosmetics or pharma industry)
  • Good knowledge of material science of foods and beverages 
  • Demonstrated creativity and initiative as well as curiosity to explore new methods
  • Enjoy working in teams with a sense of urgency and personal responsibility to move projects forward
  • Up to date knowledge of QSHE and Good Laboratory Practices requirements
