Position Summary  

 

Nestlé Research is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, employs approximately 1000 people and is comprised of five Nestlé Institutes: Food Sciences, Health Sciences, Food Safety & Analytical Sciences, Packaging Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences. We are looking for a Sous-Chef, to assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen operations, ensuring the smooth running of the kitchen, and maintaining high culinary standards. He is responsible for supervising the kitchen staff, coordinating food preparation, managing inventory, and ensuring the quality and presentation of dishes. The Sous Chef also plays a crucial role in menu planning, recipe development, and maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen environment and he is the Chef's deputy.

A Day in the Life of a Sous-Chef

 

  • Ensure consistent quality, taste, and presentation of food.
  • Efficiently manage kitchen operations and minimize wastage.
  • Delegate tasks and motivate kitchen staff.
  • Contribute to menu planning and develop new dishes.
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Control food costs and minimize waste.
  • Focus on customer satisfaction and overall dining experience.

 

What will make you successful

 

  • Extensive experience as a Chef or Sous-Chef.
  • Proficient in managing a kitchen team of 15 employees.
  • Thrives in high-pressure environments.
  • Demonstrates passion for their field of expertise.
  • Fluent in French and possesses a strong command of English.
