Position Summary

 

In order to complete our Chemistry Department, we are currently looking for a Hydrocolloids Scientist.

In this role, you will collaborate extensively within our Expert Group in Carbohydrates and will have the chance to play a role in the global R&D expert networks in this area.

A day in the life of a Hydrocolloids Scientist

 

  • Contribute to/lead multidisciplinary projects related to carbohydrate chemistry, physicochemical functionality with emphasis on polysaccharides
  • Work in collaboration with a team of food technologists, enzymologists, colloid & soft matter specialists, and process engineers
  • Contribute to rapid prototyping efforts in new and existing projects
  • Generate IP on polysaccharide science that is relevant to Nestlé processes and products
  • Project management and interactions with external companies/universities
  • Develop and maintain scientific expertise in the field through impactful publications and presentations
What will make you successful

 

  • PhD in Food Science, Engineering, or any related field, with a focus on hydrocolloids, polysaccharide chemistry and rheology,
  • Combined with 4-6 years’ experience in industry or academia
  • Strong “hands-on” experience in the field of hydrocolloids, polysaccharide physics and rheology
  • Experience in setting up research projects, building collaborations with external scientific partners, management of scientific projects and people management will be considered an asset
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
