As a Specialist in ruminant nutrition, you will develop and drive the innovation in the field of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions reduction strategies for ruminants, from inception through all stages of development. You will provide strong scientific/technical guidance to the teams involved in GHG emissions reduction initiatives and contribute to medium- to long-term research strategy in the area of sustainable milk production.  

A day in the life of a Specialist in ruminant nutrition and physiology

 

  • Proactively propose and drive new ideas and projects to R&D teams, and Operations in the area of animal nutrition and GHG emissions of agricultural origin
  • Develop nutritional and/or non-nutritional solutions targeting the reduction of GHG emissions and productivity of farm animals relevant to Nestlé’s operation
  • Design, conduct/supervise and interpret in silico simulations as well as in vitro and in vivo trials to evaluate new or existing nutritional and/or non-nutritional solutions targeting the reduction of GHG emissions and productivity of farm ruminants relevant to Nestlé’s operation. 
  • Translate scientific knowledge to product innovation and application  
  • Provide accurate and on-time advice and support to the research efforts designed by R&D teams, Business Units and Operations in the field of animal productivity and environmental impact  
  • Contribute to peer reviewed scientific publications, scientific communications, and patents  
  • Actively monitor relevant external partners (academic and industry) and support in selection and set up of strategic relationships when relevant 

What will make you successful

 

  • Ph.D. in animal nutrition on topics related specifically to ruminant nutrition and their environmental impact
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in conducting in vitro and in vivo research with dairy cattle, including study design, methods, analysis and data interpretation
  • Knowledge and proficiency with precision feeding models will be a plus
  • Strong track record in scientific communication, including presentations at scientific meetings
  • Experience in R&D environment, including product development, will be a plus
  • High motivation and leadership skills
  • Team player who can work independently
