The role of the gut microbiota in healthy digestion and general health is central to our work, as demonstrated by the large number of high impact research papers and patents that result. The Microbiome research group includes a large number of scientists and technicians working to understand how diet and nutritional products, including probiotics, influence microbiome composition, function and its interaction with the host (infant, child, adult or pet). We use wet lab and digital methods to extract relevant data and build models of physiology which can inform clinical proof-of-concept trials.

The Group also has a principal role in generating scientific discoveries to inform the Microbiome program. There are excellent working relationships with our state-of-the art analytical core facilities and experimental microbiology teams.

As a Group Leader Microbiome, you will lead research projects, contribute to the strategy of the Department and Institute and work with all businesses to support the implementation of the Microbiome program.
