Position Summary


For our Nestlé Human Resources SHE team, we are currently looking for a Safety, Health & Environment Specialist. Reporting to the Workplace Solutions, Security & SHE Beyond Operations Manager, this professional will be responsible for ensuring excellence in Safety, Health, and the Environment at the site. This includes the effective implementation of SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) plans, monitoring site standards, recognizing good performance, addressing poor performance, and maintaining communication with local authorities, communities, and Nestlé management.
 
A day in the life of... 
 
•    Ensure Compliance with local legislation and Nestlé SHE standards and principles e.g. by ensuring SHE is integrated into planning, operational reviews;
•    Implement Strategy: Guide the implementation of the SHE strategy, and communicate to management.  Ensure the implementation plan includes effective risk management procedures, Propose modifications to the plans as required during the implementation journey to reflect changes in risk;
•    Ensure the site is under control for employees, contractors and visitors, correct signage and with relevant risks effectively managed;
•    Ensure high standards of health & hygiene conditions for workers, with appropriate emergency medical response;
•    Ensure SHE Work Practices: Ensure implementation of site procedures.  Ensure that specific safe working practices are in place with a focus on high frequency risks (for example, slips, trips, falls, injuries from sharp points and edges) and high hazard tasks (for example, work at height, critical lifting, hot work);
•    Develop Capability of Managers:  Ensure training and coaching is provided to team leaders to develop their knowledge of risk management, legislation and duties. Provide personal coaching and support;
•    Provide Guidance & Support: Ensure team leaders receive trusted guidance & support on SHE matters. Identify and leverage expertise and good practices from inside and outside Nestlé.  Deliver high quality and efficient S&H support, eg exposure monitoring, health promotion, health surveillance, training;
•    Audit & Review: Ensure compliance is regularly audited and performance assessed, and the results used to drive further improvement. Promote effective communication of successes and learnings, and recognition for strong performers and contributors;
•    Coordinate the development and implementation of the SHE objectives and planned activities for the site;
•    Monitor and communicate on performance to improve decision making regarding SHE and to integrate SHE into business decisions.
•    Implement, control, maintain and improve the SHE Management systems including achieving and maintaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification. Support this through developing and implementing specific tools and initiatives as part of the SHE program.
 
What will make you successful 
 
•    Degree in Technical of Occupational health and safety - CAP Level VI;
•    Previous experience as SHE Specialist is important;
•    Availability for occasional travel within Portugal;
•    Worked in and led cross-functional teams;
•    Translated policies & standards into practical action plans;
•    Held one or more line (or project) management positions;
•    Worked in operational environment;
•    Communicated effectively with different organizational levels;
•    Strong organizational and analytical skills;
•    Attention to detail and autonomy;
•    Interpersonal and communication skills;
•    Problem-solving and stress resilience.
