Utilities Technician Trainee

We are currently recruiting for a Utilities Technician Trainee. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who want to get their career started in utilities and start their career in food manufacturing.

 

The utilities technician trainee will participate in a comprehensive educational and practical coursework program.  On-the-job training under direct supervision of Utilities Level 3 Technicians will be provided.  Position will assist in performing a variety of electrical and mechanical maintenance work in Utility systems. Successful training performance and RETA CARO certification will be required at 12 months. Upon successful completion of the Utility Technician Trainee program the incumbent is eligible to move forward into a Utility Technician Level 1 position.

Position Summary

This position is also responsible and will learn how to complete planned maintenance PM’s, equipment rebuilds, removal and installation of equipment, maintain close working relationship with operations and production maintenance. This position will require you to follow all plant rules/policies including safety, GMP regulations and perform good housekeeping practices, work with other utility techs to increase your electrical mechanical skills. Must be able to work in a team-based environment with all departments, follow SOP’s and LOTO procedures, work with Process System Management (PSM).  

  • Training Includes and not limited to: *(expectation to achieve and maintain certifications)
    • HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response)
    • RETA – CARO (Refrigeration Engineering Technicians Association, Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator)
    • Boiler Operator
    • IRC – (Industrial Refrigeration Consortium)
    • IIAR – (International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration)
  • Maintenance and operation on all major utilities
    • Steam Boilers and chemistry control
    • Industrial hot water heaters
    • Water systems, Reverse Osmosis system, softeners, filters
    • Compressed air
    • Glycol heat exchangers
    • Building and grounds
    • Assist Utilities Technicians during Ammonia/HVAC System Maintenance

The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. Associate or technical degree related to the utility trade is preferred. Prior manufacturing experience is preferred, but not required. Candidate must be able to work in a team environment, have basic verbal and written English language communication skills, has excellent time management skills, ability to frequently lift to 40lbs, work in various environments, work at heights, and confined spaces.
