Industrial Services Technician

 

Position Summary

 

In charge of all industrial services assets, like ammonia chillers, Hot water boilers, Steam boilers, Low pressure compressors, high pressure compressors, cooling towers, with all related accessories.

This includes operation, maintaining, supervising, calibrating and providing the needed notifications for abnormalities and spare parts “BOM” listing.

Reporting into the Industrial Services Manager, as the Industrial Services Technician you will ensure the effective maintenance and operation of Industrial Services plant and equipment to optimize safety, quality, plant performance and service availability.  You will be responsible for ensuring that an effective planned maintenance program is delivered to meet the required standards.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


•    Ensure that all safety procedures are adhered to, un-safe practices are addressed, and safety concerns are reported.            
•    Liaise with Functional leads and subject matter experts to ensure compliance to company standards, rules and regulations        
•    Supervision, monitoring and maintenance of all steam raising equipment, air compressors, effluent plant, general site services and utilities.
•    Monitoring of site Steam boilers, boiler of hot water, treated feed water, site water, effluent plant, air compressors, AHU’s, Ammonia chillers, and other site infrastructure.
•    Verifying, recording and reporting of site meter readings.

•    Capable of performing the services for the industrial services assets as normal maintenance activities.

•    Have the ability to do the major overhauls for high pressure compressors.
•    Maintaining asset registers, and ensure inspections are carried out as required.
•    Issuing of permits to work and use of the isolation procedures.
•    Engagement and control of external contractors.                
•    Liaise with external suppliers and manage contractors. 
•    Provide technical support to the Maintenance Technicians, Team Leaders and Operations Managers.
     

       

What will make you successful


•    Formal qualification in mechanical engineering/ Boiler operation and maintenance (BOAS accreditation essential)
•    
Knowledge of All industrial services requirements and technologies.    
•    IT skills including MS Office suite and SAP
        
•    Experience in the supervision and control of contractors through permits systems      

 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine repots and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively with groups or employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
