Main Purpose of the Job

Responsible for ensuring that all premises, buildings, machinery and equipment are properly maintained allowing effective running of operations, so as to meet production requirements in the most economical manner.

Objective

To plan, organize, direct, manage and control the efficient performance and utilization of manpower and department resources in his area of responsibility, in accordance with factory standards to ensure attainment of company objectives.

Maintenance and Repair:

• Establish effective programs for the M&R of all factory machinery and equipment, building and premises at minimum cost
• Examines the performance yield of factory installations equipment and transport facilities and analyses breakdowns, repair and overhaul data, takes steps and proposes measures in reducing frequency and extent of breakdowns
• Establishes plans for unforseen emergencies and strictly implements rules on safety, plant security, fire fighting, per building codes and governmental standards so that comapny's employees and properties and safeguarded as far as possible.
• Sets a systematic stock control and purchase order systems at technical and project stores with a view to standardizing technical items/materials, determining stock levels and their replenishmen, to ensure continous production operation at low cost
• Establishes M&R and ensures it is well controlled at optimum
• Full implementation of IMs on General Store and M&R

New Installations

• Works out plans/credit requests for machinery and equipment necessary to cope with long term requirements, taking into account possibilities to improve capacity utilization, area expansion adhering to budgeted costs
• establishes detailed programs to the installation, erection of buildings, machinery and equipment that the factory has been authorized to acquire
• Tests new equipment to ensure proper condition and ability to work at rated capacity
• Ensures that all personnel are will informed and trained on equipment  and organize training programs as needed

Energy

• Ensures the factory is provided with needed energy supplies, electricity, power, water, gas, refrigeration, compressed air etc. 
• Examines energy consumption and takes steps to prevent loss, needs to improve yield while reducing cost

Administrative Works

• Keeps all drawings and plans of premises, plant, process, and machinery up to date
• Records all Engineering jobs, monitors M&R hours against budget and materials for costing purposes
• approves orders for technical and project stores and all budgeted technical items up to the amount authorized
• authorizes payment of invoice concerning his unit's expenditure within given limits
• establishes list of obsolete or surplus items of plant machinery, equipment for disposal
• Visa all other correspondence related to Engineering as necessary
• ensures proper control and keep within budget on M&R projects 

Personnel

• Determines futre personnel requirements
• Ensures best possible deployment, effective supervision of staff and workers and see to it that a favorable working condition is maintained
• observes agreed personnel policy and enforces discipline throughout his service
• Formulates training programs
• implements an appropriate program on environmental protection control in observance of Nestec guidelines and local legislation
