We are looking for a Legal Executive who will be ensure that aspects of the Company’s operations comply with existing laws, jurisprudence, administrative rules and regulations.  The successful candidate will also advise business and functional managers on the legal risks that affect their respective units and operations and add value to the business through innovative and effective legal advice.

A day in the life of...

Guidance Regarding Laws and Jurisprudence

  1. Ensure that the Company’s initiatives are in accordance with law in all matters handled; and
  2. Give sound legal advice/opinions on queries emanating from line/department officers and staff.

 

Legal Counselling

  1. Recommend appropriate course(s) of action in all legal problems presented for action/opinion, taking into consideration the cost and legal risk involved compared with the existing or potential benefit to the business;
  2. Act as integral members of business teams and task forces formed for particular projects, or to attend to longer-term business concerns;
  3. Formulate legal strategies in major cases/issues where the company is involved or may be potentially involved as party litigant;
  4. Provide effective legal solutions on a day-to-day basis

 

Legal Documentation/Review of Contracts & Documents

  1. Negotiate, draft and/or review the Company’s contracts;
  2. Constantly renovate existing contracts to suit continuously changing business requirements;

 

General Litigation

  1. Coordinate with external counsels in the mapping out of legal strategies on existing or potential claims/cases; and
  2. File the necessary claims leading to litigation, if so warranted under the circumstances.

 

Administrative

  1. Manage contacts with law enforcement bodies, the Department of Justice, relevant government agencies, professional associations and retained counsels;
  2. Act as a resource person in company-initiated activities where legal questions may be raised.

What Will Make You Successful?

  • With Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor degree
  • Must have passed the bar exams and be a member in good standing of the Philippine Bar
  • 3 years’ experience in a law firm handling criminal/civil litigations with in depth knowledge of law and jurisprudence
  • With background on Contract Drafting, Review and Attendant Negotiations
  • Has relevant experience in Negotiating/Managing License Agreements, Anti-trust issues/Competition Law, Privacy Impact Assessments, Dispute Settlement, Import/Export and Brand Enforcement Operations
  • Managed Mergers & Acquisitions and Cross Border Contracting is a plus
  • Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills
  • With proven experience in providing insights that considers the broadest possible views of issues and challenges
  • Has a service orientation mindset and proven track record of effectively working with cross-functional teams
