  • Master degree and/or PhD in Food/Feed Science or related discipline.

    •  Operations or in Procurement
    • product or ingredient Research & Development and/or product technology

Position summary

You support Business needs by providing continuous available ingredients at optimal cost that comply, at any time, to Regulations and to Nestle Standards.

A day in the life of a Raw materials development specialist

ENSURING SUPPLY

  • Ensure the technical development of ingredients used at factory level to support Business growth.
  • Work with Procurement to develop back-up ingredients and/or alternative suppliers.
  • Build coherent material specifications in line with Market reality, focusing on sustainable materials.

 

FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY

  • Ensure that each ingredient used in formulations meets internal and external Food Safety requirements and protects Company image.
  • Perfom technical audits at supplier sites in collaboration with approved quality auditors.
  • Ensure, together with Procurement Team, closure of gaps at supplier level to any ingredient technical non conformities raised by factories.

 

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

  • Ensure that each ingredient used at factory level is authorized by the relevant Regulations (including ingredient specific registration in Russia).
  • Ensure that projected function(s) of ingredients and species comply to the European Regulations. 
  • Recommend ingredient label declarations to Product Platforms during recipe development phase.
  • Set-up and lead action plans resulting from changes in ingredient Regulations (e.g feed materials and/or additives), to ensure continuous compliance of the products.

 

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

  • Contribute to formula cost optimization through development of alternative and/or new ingredients/suppliers while maintaining existing relevant product claims.
  • Reduce complexity at factory level through rationalization of ingredient Portfolio.
  • Evaluate ingredient handling characteristics and work closely with relevant central and local teams (SHE, Engineering, Quality, Production, etc...) to define best in class solutions as required.

 

INNOVATION

  • Ensure the technical development of new ingredients to support Innovation and Renovation initiatives (e.g new claims etc..).
  • Drive the development of next ingredients generation to be used in formulations.
What will make you successful
  • Master degree and/or PhD in Food/Feed Science or related discipline.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in:
    • Operations or in Procurement
    • product or ingredient Research & Development and/or product technology
  • Ability to work in teams as well as work alone in autonomy
  • Ability to adjust communication style to different audiences (PTC experts, suppliers, factories etc…)
  • SAP knowledge is a plus
  • Opened to change and ability to adapt quickly to new situations
