The Nestlé Development Center in Marysville is responsible for the ideation, renovation, and development of new and existing coffee and coffee enhancing products, business models, and services for the world’s biggest coffee brands. Position Summary:

Join us as a Scientist in our Science & Technology department for our Coffee R&D Division, in Marysville, OHIO, USA. You will play a crucial role in driving innovation and contributing to R&D activities for the biggest Coffee and Creamers brands (COFFEEMATE, STARBUCKS, NESCAFE, NESPRESSO). More specifically, you will be responsible for developing S&T solutions enabling the launch of Innovations that will delight our consumers around the world and will collaborate with diverse teams that help each other to learn, grow and develop!

 

A Day in the life of a Scientist in our Department (Primary Responsibilities):

  • Contribute to large innovation projects by developing Scientific & Technical solutions for RTD Coffees and Liquid Creamers:
    • Develop scientific hypotheses, design experiments, coordinate bench scale and pilot scale trials.
    • Analyze and interpret data from experiments, and provide technical recommendations and insights to optimize product formulations and processes using latest digital tools.
    • Implement the S&T solutions in factories to bring new products on the market by collaborating with cross-functional teams including product development, factories, marketing, and quality assurance.
  • Propose proactively new opportunities to delight our Consumers with new Innovations by staying up to date with the latest consumer trends, industry trends, and scientific advancements, and by leveraging external ecosystem (academia, suppliers and start-ups).
  • Act as a Project Manager for scientific projects and update stakeholders on regular basis on project progress.
  • Coach product developers, application groups, and provide support to factories.

Please find below what we think is needed to succeed in this role:

  • Minimum 5 years with a Master’s Degree in Food Science, Food Processing, Chemical Engineering, Food Chemistry or related fields. Two-three years with a Ph. D is preferred.
  • Experience in Beverages, Dairy or Coffee Industry is a plus.
  • Proven experience in conducting scientific research (including designing experiments, analyze data using relevant laboratory equipment and digital tools) enabling the successful launch of new innovative products.
  • Strong track record on translating science into tangible business benefits based on understanding of food and beverage science (including ingredient functionality, formulation, and processing).
  • Experience in project management, effective communication skills and ability to work both in a cross functional team and independently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Curious, open minded, drive for results, taking initiatives and autonomous profile.
