Position Summary
Since 1969, our factory has been a cornerstone just eight miles west of Harrisburg. Situated at a transportation crossroads, it offers quick access to major cities like Baltimore, Boston, and New York. As one of the largest manufacturers in the area, we produce a wide range of dry pet food, including beloved brands like Puppy Chow®, Pro Plan®, and Friskies®. Beyond our work, we support local animal shelters, enriching the lives of pets everywhere. We’re also doing our part to care for the environment we share, like conserving water, investing in renewable electricity and maintaining zero waste for disposal. As Safety Manager, you‘ll lead the implementation of policies and programs necessary to fully comply with Nestlé Purina Pet Care Safety Programs and objectives. Lead by example as your provide training and ensure proper communication at all levels of the plant to achieve full preparation in the Safety and Health programs. You will also ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local Government regulations. Make an impact with us as you act as a resource to all departments to provide safety and loss control support.
- Develop and monitor Safety Culture through Safety Compliance Training, new hire onboarding for Safety, and support the direction and development of engineering team members.
- Responsible for the Emergency Action Plan, PEO Team training and coordination, and the management and support of various safety-related programs.
- Maintain OSHA and Internal Record Keeping and filing, including SHE-PM and SIMT, and act as Point of Contact for Regulatory Inspections for government compliance (federal/state/local).
- Serve as the SHE Pillar Leader and Safety Committee Leader with trend analysis of leading and lagging indicators.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate the capital budget to improve and maintain equipment and facilities. Responsible for the cost, schedule and performance of capital projects.
- Monitor plant energy costs and efficiency to research and implement projects and programs to continually reduce energy costs and improve utilization, including maintenance of all pollution control devices.
- Ensure all outside contractors meet compliance with all company standards including safety, sanitation, quality, productivity, and budgeting.
- Approve and direct the installation of new equipment and/or modification rearrangement of existing equipment for assigned projects with an emphasis on safety.
- Oversee Site Security and all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of professional safety experience in a manufacturing, industrial, military or related environment and 2+ years of relevant leadership experience
OR
- HS Diploma or GED equivalent with 7+ years of professional safety experience in a manufacturing, industrial, military or related environment and 2+ years of relevant leadership experience
The approximate pay range for this position is $79,000.00 - $141,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
