The Occupational Health Nurse / Specialist plays a key role in supporting employee health and safety within a manufacturing environment. This position leads occupational health programs such as exposure assessment, hearing conservation, and ergonomics, with a focus on preventing injury and illness and supporting regulatory compliance. The role partners closely with Safety, Operations, and external medical providers to identify health risks, implement preventive solutions, and support OSHA requirements.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

 

·  Provide first aid treatment and support injury and illness case management, including appropriate documentation and escalation

·  Conduct and support near miss and minor injury follow‑ups/investigations, identifying contributing factors and recommending corrective actions in partnership with Safety and Operations

·  Administer and/or coordinate audiometric testing and support the hearing conservation program

·  Maintain accurate OSHA 300, 301, and 300A records in accordance with regulatory requirements

·  Support and coordinate medical surveillance programs (e.g., hearing, respirator, exposure‑related monitoring)

·  Support return‑to‑work, job accommodation, and workers’ compensation cases in collaboration with HR and medical providers

·  Educate employees and leaders on health, wellness, injury prevention, and early reporting

·  Assist with ergonomics assessments, risk identification, and implementation of injury prevention solutions

·  Partner with Safety and Operations to analyze health trends, reduce exposure risks, and improve overall workplace health performance

 

 

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

 

  • Experience with Workers' Compensation claims management
  • Experience with OSHA recordkeeping and maintaining OSHA logs
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience as an Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN-S preferred)
  • First Aid/CPR/AED/BBP Certified Trainer
  • Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)

  

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Must be able to accommodate/ fluctuate schedule for all three shifts weekly
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin – preferred
  • Minimum of 2 - 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software and web-based applications
  • Certified in CPR and AED use
