About the Role
The Specialist Facility SH&E promotes excellence in Safety, Health, and Environmental Sustainability at the site by providing SH&E guidance, support, and training. This role ensures daily compliance with applicable government laws/regulations as well as company policies. The Specialist completes and maintains assessments to identify hazards and partners with onsite teams to develop and execute action plans to eliminate identified hazards.
Key Responsibilities
- Foster a culture where Safety, Health, and Environmental Sustainability are ingrained as a core value.
- Coordinate, support, and/or facilitate SH&E training to ensure compliance and competency.
- Provide support, guidance, and leadership for site SH&E programs.
- Provide guidance and oversight of incident investigations; ensure follow-up actions are completed and records/documentation are maintained.
- Analyze SH&E conditions and recommend changes to continuously improve facility performance; participate on the SH&E committee.
- Conduct risk assessments for existing jobs and for new equipment/processes.
- Maintain an “audit-ready” state of compliance with internal SH&E policies/procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Implement processes and SOPs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements related to worker safety and environmental protection.
- Maintain and report accurate SH&E data and metrics at the site and in designated systems.
- Ensure day-to-day compliance with applicable Security and SH&E guidelines.
Reporting Relationships
- Direct report to: Manager Facility/Regional SH&E
- Dotted-line report to: Manager Factory
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in safety, health, environmental, or a related discipline.
- 1–2 years of experience in a Safety & Health role (or related field) in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements; ability to interpret and communicate applicable regulations.
- Ability to make well-informed decisions in routine and non-routine situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally to influence outcomes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail- and results-oriented.
- Proficiency with Windows-based applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional SH&E certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, OHST, NEBOSH).
- Understanding of ISO 14001, OHSAS/ISO 45001, LEAN, and TPM concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in a team environment.
Working Conditions
Manufacturing environment.
Key Relationships
- Partner with site functions including HR, Engineering, Industrial Services, Operations, Maintenance, TAG, and Operations Excellence to ensure SH&E policies and practices are followed.
- Collaborate with contractors for pre-work safety planning and other SH&E items.
- Support SH&E interactions with suppliers/service providers; may assist with regulatory authority interactions in partnership with the Manager Facility/Regional SH&E.
