What to Expect: 
In this contract position you will be overseeing a portfolio of retailers, including Sobeys, Metro, Canadian Tire, and Dollarama, which collectively generate over $170 million in sales and customer contributions for NPP Canada. This position is accountable for developing and executing the National Accounts "go to market" strategic plan and ensuring the integration of retail strategies aligned with the Grocery Mass channel plan. Additionally, the role encompasses full responsibility for P&L management, trade spending, Joint Business Planning (JBP), account planning, and leading the team effectively.

 

A day in the life of a Director National Accounts

  • Accountable for the strategic Account plans, based on internal objectives, Marketing, Business Development, and Shopper Marketing plans, as well as external competitive marketplace issues and opportunities.
  • Coach and develop the team of Key Account Managers and Business Analysts, clearly defining and supporting, career aspirations and development plans.
  • Lead the team in developing and achieving the sales performance plan for the business by implementing the strategy, managing total trade spend, and achieving agreed shelf, distribution, and promotional targets.
  • Monitor, and address specific issues to achieve
  • Proactively monitor and provide strategic direction to the regions overall business plan, including managing trade budgets, spending, and volume to achieve all sales objectives versus plan.
  • Effectively manage internal and external relationships, meeting the agreed level of customer contacts with all involved parties.
  • Lead the development and implementation of trade promotion strategies with the customer.

 

Role Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive sales experience, including 1 to 2 years in a leadership role such as Director, Manager, or Team Lead within a national grocery retail environment.
  • Previous experience leading a team and developing others in a management capacity
  • Proficiency in working with Nielsen data is required
  • Experience managing P&L and trade spend is required
  • Experience working with Sobeys and or Metro is an asset
  • Computer literacy and expertise in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent leadership abilities, fostering collaboration and strong interpersonal skills

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with excellent time and project management while paying attention to detail.
  • Motivation as a self-starter with the ability to think “out of the box” in an effort to secure incremental business opportunities.
