Position Summary:

This role will be responsible for leading a group of supervisors and operators to achieve the Distribution Centre goals and ensuring customer satisfaction.

 

A day in the life of a Distribution Centre Operations Lead 

This role will hold overall responsibility for managing all Distribution Centre operations and will report directly to the Distribution Centre Manager. The candidate selected for this role will serve as a key decision-maker in the execution of broad organizational and operational objectives. Provides business and managerial leadership for successful operation of the Distribution Centre. Hire and manage personnel while leading operations. Provides continual coaching to all managerial teams on ways to improve safety and quality standards and maintain on-time performances.

 

You will:

Oversees operational teams including supervisors and operators, also will oversee processes and infrastructure while looking for opportunities of improvement or revision.

• Leads the achievement of DC or functional Key Performance Indicators in the areas of Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Turnover.

• Ensure a work environment driven by mutual respect and a focus of shared goals.

• Serve as a mentor, leader, and team builder by motivating, coaching, and training supervisors and operators providing both informal (on floor coaching) and formal (written evaluation) job performance feedback.

Help to create a culture of safety and service from the ground up and ensure compliance to the workplace safety standards, policies, and procedures at all times.

• Ensure that operational resources, including equipment and human talent, are properly allocated in relation to daily operational needs.

• Coordinate the efforts of shipping office and operations personnel to ensure that customer orders are effectively satisfied.

• Liaise between subordinate staff and senior management to ensure organizational goals and objectives are effectively communicated and met additionally communicate in a timely manner,

• Enforces DC adherence to company developed SOP’s / WI’s for warehouse management and transportation.

 

Role Requirements

5+ years of experience within a warehouse environment leading operations.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software used throughout the organization.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills leading team members and communicating with cross functional teams.

• Ability to work extended hours as needed, including weekends or evenings.

• Strong people skills to be able to lead and promote a culture of safety while fulfilling operational requirements.
