Position Summary

We are looking for a Senior Category Manager (14-month contract) based at our Nestle Purina PetCare Canada location in Mississauga, Ontario reporting into the Director, Category and Shopper Insights.  This position is responsible for the development and management of all category management and space management projects for the pet category in Grocery Channel to deliver against Category and Customer strategies. 

A day in the life of...

As a Senior Category Manager, you will proactively lead the development of the category strategy and business plan for the customer.  You will implement the Category Management Plan for the customer and Integrated Commercial Business Plan (ICBP) for Nestlé Purina and develop Category Space Management plan for the customer.  You will utilize the customer’s point-of-sales and loyalty data to identify issues and opportunities and share finding as appropriate with the customer and with NPP Sales, MDO and Marketing.  You will develop and deliver presentations specific to NPP as required. 


You will also:
•    Develop and implement new future concepts, along with signage and department layout.  
•    Update and revise all current store department/floor plans to maximize overall department sales 
•    Assist the customer in creating their 5-year strategic plan and shopper opportunities to deliver baseline growth 
•    Develop and present category reviews for the Customer on an annual, quarterly and monthly basis.  
•    Lead monthly insight scorecard with the sales and category development teams. 
•    Develops and present business reviews of the account on an annual, quarterly and monthly basis. 
•    Develop space management planograms using various space management software working with the customer and key stakeholders to ensure optimal layouts for customer has been achieved to reach our joint targets
•    Perform Pre and Post Implementation analysis of planograms: 
•    Create and analyze Profitability Analysis Reports and recommending alternatives from the results  
•    Proactively analyze to ensure profitability, share and to-space ratios are correct 

What will make you successful

As the successful candidate, you will be a self-starter and have excellent interpersonal skills, strategic business skills and time management skills.  You will have proven problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to gain insights and develop recommendations.  You will need to be results focused, detail oriented and thrive in a fast-paced environment managing several complex priorities with strict deadlines.  


You will also have:
•    3-5 years of experience in Category Management coupled with experience in Sales
•    Customer POS experience is required
•    Experience using Nielsen and Space Management software (JDA), Microsoft Office
•    Financial Acumen and an understanding of P&L drivers will be an asset
•    Pet category and grocery/mass retail environment knowledge will be an asset.
•    Have a University degree in a Business Administration with a focus on sales or marketing
