Position Summary

We are looking for a Key Account Manager based at our Head office in Mississauga, Ontario and reporting into the National Sales Manager for the Veterinary Channel. This role is responsible for driving Sales to Veterinary Channel Key National and Regional Large Clinic Groups and deliver associated customer contribution to NPP Canada. Responsible for the Clinic Groups “go to market” strategic plan, based on the Integrated Commercial Plan.  The incumbent will work closely with a wide cross-functional team to ensure target achievement as well as in developing a strategic relationship with the customers.

A day in the life of...

As a Key Account Manager, you will partner with Veterinary Professionals, Clinic Managers and Large clinic group customers to build relationships and grow Purina revenue within the Veterinary Channel.  You will lead the Joint Business Planning process with the National Large Clinic and Regional Groups and be responsible for trade spend and maximizing customer contribution within the region.  You will Drive pre and post promotion evaluation and leverage category insights/shopper marketing and Veterinary communications managers as resources to help develop and implement channel category and consumer centric strategies.
You will also:
•    Develop timely and accurate monthly forecasts in order to project annual sales volume along with maximizing supply chain efficiencies by tracking shipments, consumption, and inventory changes.
•    Conduct category business reviews to discuss the state of the business, consumer trends, key business drivers, and incremental opportunities. 
•    Utilize sound category management practices to proactively link consumer and shopper insights/trends and opportunities.
•    Identify profitable opportunities to grow incremental volume through new item listings, SKU optimization and distribution.
•    Utilize the Nestle Purina PetCare Trade Management Tool to create optimal customer plans. 
•    Develop and implement trade promotion strategies and tactical plans with the customer. 
•    Proactively monitor and update the customer's overall business plan, including managing trade budgets, spending, and volume to achieve all sales objectives versus plan.                                                                                                                                        
•    Negotiate annual rebate incentive contracts.                                                                                                    
•    Accountable for TTS (Trade $) and PFME Budgets and deployment within area of responsibility, delivering revenues, customer contribution and Account Management in Canada.
•    Utilize post event analysis to evaluate promotional volume, consumption, profit, and spending results versus plan and leverage findings to maximize future promotional opportunities. Monitor and manage deduction balances and conduct post audits.

You will also have:

•    Completion of a university degree in Business Administration with a focus on Sales and Marketing, a degree in Science would be an asset.
•    5+ years of progressive sales experience in the Veterinary Channel managing a territory and/or Trade Marketing.
•    Relevant experience in the packaged goods industry would be considered an asset.
•    Strong leadership, collaborative/interpersonal skills, analytical skills, project management and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
•    Highly developed organizational, communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
•    Highly developed analytical skills and extensive experience in Microsoft Excel
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills with expertise presenting to both small and large groups.
•    Motivation as a self-starter with the ability to think “out of the box” in an effort to secure incremental business opportunities.
