Position Summary

We are looking for a Key Account Manager based at our Head office in Mississauga, Ontario and reporting into the Director of National Accounts - Sobeys. This role is responsible for achieving annual Sales, Profit & Market Share targets on the Sobeys account. The individual is accountable for the strategic plan for each account as well as executing “go-to-market” strategies.  The incumbent will work closely with a wide cross-functional team to ensure target achievement as well as in developing a strategic relationship with the customer. 

A day in the life of...

As a Key Account Manager, you will be accountable for the strategic account plan based on internal objectives, marketing, business development and shopper marketing plans, as well as external competitive marketplace issues and opportunities.  You will be accountable for account sales, customer contribution and the various banners/divisions within the customer and ensure high visibility for Purina products within the account.
You will also:
•    Cultivate synergy and collaborative relationships via Integrated Commercial Planning between Marketing, Trade Marketing, and Retail Solutions.
o    Ensures the integration of Brand Plans and Channel plans with Account plans and Retail strategy.
o    Develops the account plan.
o    Communicates all Retail needs and ensures alignment takes place before final account plan completion.
•    Responsible for Trade Spend and maximizing Customer Contribution within the Account by developing and managing budgets and P&Ls.
o    Drives pre and post promotion evaluation to increase ROI/ROS.
o    Optimize segment and brand mix to drive profitability
•    Responsible for determining the needs for successful Joint Business Planning with the Account.
o    Develops the specific agenda for the session.
o    Communicates Cross Functional needs of Supply Chain, Product Strategy, Business Development and Shopper Marketing to allow for cross functional feeds and participation.
o    Lead commercial negotiations with the customer
•    Accountable for Account Sales Reporting.
•    Accountable for monthly forecast contribution in order to deliver internal targets.

As the successful candidate, you will be the champion for the brand throughout the organisation so you will need to be passionate, tenacious, results focused and really enjoy working in a highly energetic and exciting environment. You will already have great Sales and Account Management experience, coupled with your highly organised, dynamic approach. Pro-activity, tenacity and enthusiasm are essential, as is your ability to understand and work within our competitive market. 
You will also have:
•    Completion of a university degree in Business Administration with a focus on Sales and Marketing.
•    3-5 years of progressive sales experience managing a top-tier retail customer.
•    Relevant experience in the packaged goods industry would be considered an asset.
•    Solid hands-on experience in an analytical role.  Past work with AC Nielsen would be a strong asset.
•    Strong leadership, collaborative/interpersonal skills, analytical skills, project management and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
•    Highly developed organizational, communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills with expertise presenting to both small and large groups.
•    Motivation as a self-starter with the ability to think “out of the box” in an effort to secure incremental business opportunities.
•    Willing to travel as required.
