POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to oversee the overall electrical and PLC direction of the plant. This is achieved through maintenance of the plant production equipment, electrical distribution system, PLC control system, and ensuring that the plant electrical technical knowledge stays current. In addition, this position is responsible for overseeing the proper implementation of the division capital plan through development, planning and coordination of capital projects as directed by the Plant Engineer. Project management responsibilities include administering upgrades/modifications/new installations to maintain and increase operational efficiency of the process. Assists maintenance and production with troubleshooting equipment problems. Responsible for hardware and software process control systems including associated instrumentation. Issues, maintains, and updates related documentation to be in compliance with Nestle and Regulatory policies.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for assisting the Engineering Manager in preparing equipment specifications, detailed layout, and directing the installation of capital equipment.
- Responsible for conducting engineering studies of equipment operations to determine design malfunction and make recommendations for improved performance.
- Responsible for writing capital requests for specific projects and completing approved projects within budgeted amounts.
- Responsible for reviewing design and specification proposals submitted by vendors and/or Division Engineering to ensure all design criteria and other necessary requirements have been met.
- Responsible for interfacing with maintenance/production supervision to provide assistance in mechanical/electrical operation of all production/process equipment.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL
- BS Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree
EXPERIENCE:
- Mechanical design and/or layout of equipment
- Construction and utilities related (piping and P&IDs)
- Equipment and building design and upgrades
- Estimating of Engineering and construction costs.
- Proficient in AutoCAD for design, upgrades, new additions or modification for utilities, mechanical, P&ID’s etc.
SKILLS:
- Engineering Knowledge
- Problem solving and Troubleshooting
- Electrical Codes
- Allen Bradley PLC and process controls
- USDA Machinery and Construction
- Interpersonal Skills
- Presentations
- Understanding and implementation of Ladder Logic programming for PLC’s
- Experience with Microsoft Windows NT and domain networking environments
- Ability to implement new software packages.
