Position Summary:
The Agriculture Specialist provides professional support to develop Agricultural activities, with focus on fieldwork, suppliers, farmers and stakeholders attention in pumpkin and Supplier Development Areas.
Work Schedule:
During peak pumpkin season, the role requires a 6-day workweek with 12-hour shifts (6:00 am - 6:00 pm)
Key Outputs / Deliverables:
- Responsible for visiting and taking contact with farmers and stakeholders with adequate plantation, and ensure implementation of the Nestlé requirements.
- Provide technical assistance to farmers on specific topics when required (pumpkin seed, pumpkin, quality and safety, others).
- Training of farmers in good agricultural practices
- Field support in supplier development activities
- Manage specific projects related to his area of expertise. Solid problem solving capability.
- Conduct business intelligence in his region, provide management with reliable and anticipated insight of the local farming and sourcing environment.
- Support the raw material purchasing operation as per local needs.
- Support in daily operations of a drone.
- Expected daily travel within a 5- mile radius of the Morton Facility.
Experience:
Academic Experiences:
- University or technical degree in agriculture, food sciences, veterinary or equivalent
Operational Experience:
- Hands on exposure to work/projects with farmers or in rural environment
- Demonstrated competences in their specific field of expertise
- Demonstrated competences for teamwork
Business Experience:
- Job experience in sourcing with a strong interest for purchasing
- Experience about dynamics of rural societies, their development, and raw material production systems
- Basic experience in supplier development principles is desirable
- Good Agricultural Practices
The approximate pay range for this position is $70,000 to $95,000 Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
