Position Snapshot

This role resides on the Factory Management Leadership team and provides direct assistance to the Factory Manager in the general plant operations and maintenance to achieve the assigned production objective. The assistant factory manager will have direct responsibility for production, maintenance and engineering, manufacturing excellence (and in some cases quality assurance and SHE).  In this role, the assistant plant manager is responsible for leading the factory operations to sustainable high performance in alignment with the requirements of the business roadmap and site priorities. The assistant plant manager will also ensure the smooth flow of work in the absence of the factory manager.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize and lead the operations team to achieve the agreed objectives (safety, environment, quality, cost and service). Proactively drive focused improvement ensuring that operations meet expected results in a sustainable way, by implementing TPM on all lines according to the structured and agreed plan.
  • Ensure development of operations team through performance management, career development, and succession planning and coaching. Ensure that this is reflected by other managers and supervisors within operations.
  • Collaborate with peer managers to share best practices, liaise with Market T&P functions, R&D / Applications Groups / BEMs and Supply Chain to drive continuous improvement. Build knowledge base of Nestle systems, policies and processes.
  • Strong understanding of Quality, SHE, Engineering Systems, Demand and Supply Planning processes and impact of the factory on the Supply Chain, and Lean Thinking and Nestlé Continuous Excellence methodologies
  • Ensure smooth operations by effectively managing and monitoring relations within the Employee population and Industrial Relations. Build and maintain positive community relations through active engagement.
  • Ensure adherence to all Company principles and policies as well as local laws and regulations. Ensure compliance to health, food safety and regulatory requirements of all products manufactured.

 

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Food Science, Engineering or related fields.   Exposure to implementing and using Total performance Management, prefer 2 years.
  • 5+ years of production experience, including as a line manager, with demonstrated capability to lead a larger group of people, with successful experience in leading change or implementation of major change (new processes, start up, expansion, introduction of new system), and experiences in different environments (other sites, projects, or expatriation).
