6 months, fixed term contract

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lab Services Officer to join a close-knit motivated and professional team at Nestle’s NQAC in Mulgrave, where we provide analytical services to Nestle factories and co-manufacturers in the Oceania region. 

 

A day in the life…

 

Reporting to the Quality Systems Coordinator, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

 

  • Registration of incoming samples into SAP-LIMS and procurement for the lab.
  • General micro techniques including sample & media preparation.
  • Pathogen analysis including sample & media preparation, instrumentation-based techniques e.g. ELISA, PCR.
  • Control culture maintenance.
  • Assist with maintenance of NQAC sample management and registration systems and procedures. 
  • Liaison with NQAC customers as required in regard to sample registration and reporting.
  • Procurement and maintenance of consumable Data Base.  
  • Requesting purchase of laboratory consumables, supplies, and services as required via SAP P2P.
  • Maintenance of purchasing/supplier performance records.
  • Receipting of goods and services via SAP.
  • Storage of laboratory consumables and supplies, acceptance of consumables according to Nestle and NATA acceptance criteria. 
  • Follow-up with NBS and Accounts Payable with regard to missing blocked or parked invoices.
  • Assists in the maintenance of NQAC Management and documentation systems.
  • Preparation of NQAC monthly billing invoices and journal for analysis charges to factories.
  • General laboratory administrative duties.  This will include maintenance of office stationery and printers, maintenance of central filing system and archive, assist with preparation of training workshops (organise catering, prepare workbooks or handouts), mail and couriers, etc.
  • Participation in quality issues and projects as required.

 

What will make you successful

 

  • Tertiary qualification in a related discipline
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in Laboratory function, Office administration and/or procurement with a background in Microbiology.
  • Willingness to work on weekends whenever required.
  • Background in Inventory and Stock Management
  • Work prioritisation skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience using a Laboratory Information Management (LIMS) system.
  • Ability to cope up with increased work load during crisis/ non routine events.
  • Previous experience in a NATA accredited or TGA licensed laboratory will be preferred.
  • Your analytical mind set, attention to detail, and desire for continuous improvement is imperative; as is your organizational, technical, and communication skills.         

 

Applicants must be eligible to work in Australia and have Permanent Residency.
