About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to lead and execute capital investment projects for manufacturing operations. The role will initially be based in Nanjangud and will involve managing projects from early concept development and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and final closeout.

The successful candidate will work on projects involving manufacturing processes, filling and packaging systems, logistics infrastructure, and industrial automation. Depending on the size and complexity of the assignment, the role may operate as an individual contributor or lead a cross-functional project team.

This is an opportunity to contribute to high-impact engineering initiatives while ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, within the approved budget, and in accordance with quality, regulatory, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage capital expenditure projects across the complete project lifecycle, including concept development, feasibility assessment, detailed design, procurement, execution, commissioning, handover, and project closeout.
  • Develop and review engineering designs for manufacturing processes, process equipment, production lines, and plant infrastructure.
  • Coordinate process design activities, including preparation and review of process documentation and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Lead projects involving filling and packaging equipment, logistics systems, material-handling solutions, warehouse automation, and other industrial automation applications.
  • Manage new production-line installations, plant expansions, asset relocation, and optimisation of the existing fixed-asset base.
  • Prepare project concepts, technical specifications, investment proposals, schedules, budgets, and implementation plans.
  • Manage contractors, equipment suppliers, engineering partners, and other external service providers.
  • Monitor project costs, timelines, risks, scope changes, and expected business benefits, taking timely corrective action where required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, food-safety, hygienic-design, quality, and applicable statutory requirements.
  • Support equipment installation, plant start-up, performance testing, commissioning, and operational handover.
  • Collaborate with factory leadership, production, engineering, maintenance, quality, safety, procurement, finance, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Lead or coordinate project teams based on the scope and complexity of the assigned project.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project delivery, cost effectiveness, operational efficiency, and return on investment.
  • Travel to, and where required be based at, different project and factory locations for extended project assignment.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or B.Tech. in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical/Electrical/Automation or Control/Instrumentation/Chemical or Process Engineering

Experience

  • Approximately 5–10 years of relevant experience in manufacturing-related capital projects, project engineering, or project management.
  • Experience managing projects such as greenfield or brownfield factory developments, new production lines, plant expansions, process installations, equipment relocation, or manufacturing automation.
  • Prior experience in FMCG or food manufacturing is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in plant design, construction, installation, start-up, and commissioning.
