Position Summary

The Database Engineering Manager supports the Insights & Analytics and Commercial Analytics Teams by managing a team that develops & maintains the NNUS Analytics Cloud. This team will be responsible for developing data products around data automation, structure, modeling, and reporting to meet the needs of the overall Nespresso US Market . This role will work with the Analytics Directors to determine how best to prioritize resources in order to maximize the value of Nespresso's data and minimize the level of effort that others in the organization have in terms of automating, organizing and reporting on Nespresso's data. 

 

A Day in the Life:
• Responsible for developing and maintaining data architecture of the Nespresso US datalake
• Ensure data remains fresh & accurate with consistent pipeline runs
• Proactively drive the vision for BI and Data Warehousing
• Support the creation of models for holistic business reporting, automated dashboard builds and advanced analytics to empower data driven decision making and efficiency marketing campaign targeting. 
• Have expertise in data structures, data models, and technical project management 
•   Design and build pipelines, ETL paths, and database schemas to support a wide range of strategies and use cases for secure data acquisition, data cleansing and blending, data storage, analysis and modeling
•   Ensure data models and data architecture are optimal for performance and future growth
•   Ensure transparency in terms of active priorities and deliverable critical paths & timing
•   Responsible for translating business needs into detailed requirements for technical teams
•   Responsible for communicating data management process into non-technical language
•   Responsible for ensuring all data feeds and storage comply with Nestlé standards of data security
•   Manage user groups to preserve appropriate levels of data security
•   Build a high quality BI and Data Warehousing team and design the team to scale
•   Onboard team members and provide training on the business, the database and tools
•   Work with team members to drive consistency & excellence in delivery of objectives
•   Develop team skill sets and manage their workloads effectively.

 

Winning Skillsets:
• Bachelors Degree required. Studies in Computer Science, Statistics or similar field preferred
• 5+ years of data engineering or other data-intensive development experience
• Experience working with and analyzing unstructured data (such as text analytics) preferred
• Advanced skills in Visual Basic and Java (JSON)
• Advanced skills and experience using Python, R, SQL and other scripting languages
• Working knowledge of managing IaaS and SaaS systems
• Advanced knowledge of data pipeline creation (in Azure preferred)
 • Experience with Big Data technologies (BigQuery, Hadoop, Spark, etc.)
• Experience with BI and data visualization tools. Power BI experience preferred
• Knowledge of data mining, machine learning, and/or natural language processing
• Able to effectively manage competing & parallel project demands. Strong project management skills required
• Familiarity with marketing data sources and their use cases
