Job Summary:
The Senior Demand Planning Specialist will be responsible for analyzing and reporting demand changes in order to assess the risk around the Demand Plan and the impact of the changes to the Supply Plan for Nespresso USA. This role will facilitate and drive collaboration with the Marketing, Sales Operations and Finance team members to develop weekly/monthly/quarterly forecasts. The Senior Demand Planning Specialist will also be responsible for creating and maintaining an 18-month rolling supply plan that maximizes service, avoids waste, while managing with appropriate inventory levels. This is a hybrid-based opportunity (2 days/ week in office and 3 days remotely) and will be located at the Nespresso USA office in New York City (Manhattan Herald Square).
Responsibilities:
Build and Maintain Accurate Demand Forecasts
• Integrate historical sales, promotional uplift, seasonality, and new product launches into accurate sell-out and sell-in forecasts across multiple channels of business (DTC, Trade, B2B).
• Ensure alignment with commercial plans and supply chain constraints to minimize forecast bias and improve accuracy.
• Drive continuous refinement of forecasting models through advanced analytics, stakeholder collaboration, and the use of planning tools to support business growth and operational efficiency.
• Leverage AI agents to automate data collection, forecast updates, and promotional uplift modeling.
Support Promotional and Event Planning
• Assist in managing the promotional calendar and volume planning for events.
• Validate assumptions with Sales and Marketing and ensure timely execution.
• Conduct post-event analysis to measure ROI and apply learnings to future planning.
• Use AI-powered predictive analytics to anticipate stock risks and optimize replenishment cycles.
Optimize Inventory Levels and Product Availability Across the End-to-End Process
• Ensure optimal stock levels to minimize out-of-stock situations and reduce obsolescence while maintaining freshness compliance.
• Work closely with Supply Planning and Operations to support the entire end-to-end process—from production planning through distribution to on-shelf availability.
• Collaborate with 3PL partners to ensure an efficient manufacturing and replenishment plan that guarantees stock availability and meets service level targets.
• Monitor inventory health metrics at trader retailers and Machine partners - such as Weeks of Supply (WOS) and aging reports, and implement corrective actions to balance service level targets with working capital efficiency.
• Use AI-powered predictive analytics to anticipate stock risks and optimize replenishment cycles.
Deliver Actionable Insights Through Advanced Data Analysis
• Leverage POS data, retailer inventory reports, and demand signals to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Develop dashboards and analytical reports that inform assortment decisions, promotional effectiveness, and distribution strategies.
• Provide clear, data-driven recommendations to internal stakeholders to enhance decision-making and drive commercial performance.
• Implement AI Agents for real-time monitoring and insights generation.
Build and Sustain Effective Processes and Direct-to-Consumer Relationships
• Establish and lead collaborative planning, forecasting, and replenishment processes with key stakeholders to improve forecast accuracy, inventory alignment, and promotional execution.
• Foster strong relationships with Machine Partners to ensure transparency, trust, and joint business planning.
• Act as the primary planning partner for external stakeholders, driving alignment and shared accountability for results.
Ensure Governance and Lead Continuous Improvement Initiatives
• Maintain compliance with planning policies and CPFR processes, ensuring all assumptions and decisions are accurately documented.
• Engage actively in monthly business reviews and cross-functional meetings to align priorities and share insights.
• Identify and lead improvements by leveraging AI and NCE tools to automate processes, close gaps, and enhance forecast accuracy. Drive initiatives that reduce manual workload and strengthen overall planning capabilities.
• Collaborate with 3PL partners to continuously improve manufacturing and logistics processes, reducing cost-to-serve while safeguarding service levels and quality standards.
• Support budget governance for delivery costs. Contribute to defining these budget lines during the OP phase and ensure year-round performance meets or exceeds OP targets; Champion cost-reduction initiatives without compromising service or quality.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance or in a related field required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
• 3-5+ years of experience in Demand Planning or Merchandise Planning required.
• Exposure to financial planning processes such as OTB and inventory management required.
• Demonstrated fluency in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint) required.
• Must have current or prior work experience utilizing planning tools such as SAP, APO, JDA and/or Power BI.
• Must possess excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, analytical, presentation and stakeholder management skills (including the ability to develop/maintain strong, cross-functional stakeholder relationships).
• Willing and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Must have the ability to work through change management and the ability to influence key business decisions.
• Understanding of retail KPIs (sell through, stock cover and margin markdowns) is highly desired.
• Experience supporting seasonal and promotional planning cycles a plus.
• Willing and able to travel up to 5% based on the needs of the team and the business required.
The approximate pay range for this position is $120,000 to $133,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as geographic location.
