Job Description:
The Senior UI/UX Design Specialist will be responsible for applying a deep understanding of qualitative analysis (journey mapping, user research, etc.) and quantitative data (web analytics, purchase behavior, etc.) to Nespresso USA’s UX/UI across all of the company’s digital properties (responsive website and app). This role requires expertise in design and ability to build strong partnerships with the direct team and stakeholders and cross departments. This is also a hands on role focused on improving the UX and UI of the website in collaboration with the UX/UI Manager and the Senior UI/UX Design Specialist will also work closely with both the Digital Experience and Digital Commerce teams. This is a hybrid-based opportunity that will work at Nespresso USA’s Office in New York City, New York (Manhattan) 2 days/week and the rest remotely from home.
Responsibilities:
Design and Strategy Execution
• Work with the UX/UI Manager to create state-of-the-art design solutions to business and user problems and opportunities.
• Create or assist in the creation of interactive prototypes to support tests.
• Responsible for enforcing and expanding the use of design system solutions and design conversions.
• Evolve global and local design library, as well as reinforce main design standards and processes to ensure intended usage and adoption.
• Lead full cycle design projects of small to medium scale from design strategy through to execution, including working closely with the broader Digital Commerce team and other cross-functional stakeholders.
• Execute on and inform the area's strategy for creating a desired user experience.
• Maintain and update design system component library and documentation.
• Create briefs and handoff sessions for Content Producers and Developers.
User Research and Data Analytics
• Plan, design, conduct and synthesize user research in collaboration with the Line Manager to understand user and accessibility needs.
• Present test results to local and global stakeholders and create recommendations to address findings.
• Create requests in collaboration with the Data & Insights team to collect relevant information to inform design and product optimizations.
• Be able to self-serve user insights from GA4, Contentsquare, customer reviews and complaints and other available data tools.
• Ensure continuous site experience improvement by measuring design effectiveness and implementing necessary changes.
• Collaborate with the Data & Insights team to lead and run A/B tests.
• Ensure a data-driven approach to designing visual and content strategies against briefed KPIs.
• Passionate and insatiably curiosity about user behavior, psychology and ability to effectively mine and use data to identify areas of opportunity.
• Ground ideas in data by partnering with the Data & Insights team, external partners and internal insights to incorporate customer insights and principles throughout the creative process.
• Utilize benchmarking work from tools like Baymard institute research repository.
Advocacy, Compliance & Collaboration
• Follow accessibility guidelines and ensure compliance with the ADA.
• Help maintain and expand the company's UX strategy's artifacts (personas, user journeys, sitemap, etc.).
• Stay current with trends in UX, design web/app technology and e-commerce contributing to ongoing excellence and upskilling plan across the broader team.
• Be a strong champion for superior UX within the company and on behalf of the market.
• Balance UI/UX best practices, operations, aesthetics and user research with business objectives to enable optimal decision making both in the near term and future.
• Harmonize the UX and its impact across the organization.
• Be able to advise the Digital Commerce team on revenue and the customer experience impact of specific content addition/upgrade on the site.
• Work with the UX/UI Manager to help improve internal processes and support admin responsibilities that include, but not limited to, PO creation, memo sharing, comms share-out, JIRA/project management updates, etc.
• Perform additional duties, tasks or projects as assigned by the UI/UX Manager.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in UI/UX Design, Graphic Design or in a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 4-5+ years of professional work experience working at a Brand, Agency or in an Organization demonstrating a breadth and depth of experience in UI/UX and visual design, including approach and processes, required.
• Must have experience running UX research projects.
• Demonstrated fluency in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint) required.
• Experience translating consumer insights into usability experiences required.
• Must have excellent communication (oral and written), presentation, organizational and stakeholder management skills (including the ability to develop and maintain strong, cross-functional stakeholder relationships).
• Familiarity with cutting edge and best-in-class User Experience, UX strategy and UX research practices required.
• Must be a creative and strategic think who is detail-oriented and analytical.
• Willing and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to simplify complex problems creatively, manage risk and be able to influence rapid decision making.
• Experience using design and adjacent tools such as Figma and/or JIRA are highly preferred.
• Knowledge of HTML & CSS a plus.
• Willing and able to travel up to 5% based on the needs of the team and the business.
The approximate pay range for this position is $135,000 to $145,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as geographic location.
