What to Expect:
We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our Sensory Insights Team within Technical Services on a 12-month contract. This position oversees key activities in the Head Office Test Kitchen and ensures an efficient and smooth operation. The successful candidate will help ensure the efficient day-to-day operation thru providing support to sensory sessions in the head office by sourcing and prepping samples as requested by Sensory or the Product/ Packaging Development Team.
The role is responsible for management of stock, coordination of routine equipment maintenance and sample management, including receiving and shipping samples. The laboratory technician will be required to interact with and coordinate across a broad cross-functional team, including Marketing, Product Development, Packaging, and Consumer Insights. This position is an existing vacancy.
A day in the life:
- Prepare, organize, and serve samples for sensory evaluations (like, but not limited to, shelf-life tests, expert panel, and in-booth tests).
- Participate in sensory sessions and assist with data collection and reporting.
- Manage the Head Office Test Kitchen while ensuring compliance with Nestlé Quality Management System requirements and Good Laboratory Practices.
- Coordinate inventory management, sample labelling, storage, and stock replenishment.
- Support routine equipment maintenance and calibration.
- Source ingredients, products, and samples while coordinating shipping and receiving activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sensory, Marketing, Product Development, Packaging, and Consumer Insights.
- Promote and support food safety, quality, occupational health and safety, and environmental requirements.
- Lead and support 5S initiatives and Test Kitchen Safety Training activities.

- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in the food industry, food service, laboratory, food preparation, or related environments.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory or kitchen equipment, including ovens, thermometers, scales, and pH meters.
- Experience with sample preparation, inventory management, or laboratory support activities is considered an asset.

Compensation Range: CAD 50,000 - CAD 60,000
