What to Expect: 
The National Channel Sales Manager role is a 12-month contract opportunity where you will lead all functions essential to the sales effort for the Health Food Store (HFS) channel nationally. These include planning, reporting, goal setting & execution, sales process and program optimization, sales training and the recruitment and selection of talent. 

This is a field-based role that requires coaching and development of Territory Managers through frequent field visits, as well as trade spend optimization, forecasting, and setting and executing impactful channel plans that will achieve or exceed target. Overnight travel and weekend work will be required occasionally.

 

A day in the life:
The National Channel Sales Manager is responsible for delivering sustainable, profitable sales results in assigned channel and the overall productivity and effectiveness of the channel team through managing several direct reports, creating an energetic & performance driven environment.  Reporting to the Director of Sales, the National Channel Sales Manager fosters a close working relationship with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the organization's revenue targets are achieved for assigned channel. 
 
You will also:

  • Develop & execute clear and focused channel plans that are aligned with strategy which includes effective analysis of key sales data, environmental scan, identification of opportunities and risks, development and tracking execution against plans.
  • Design, implement, and manage sales forecasting, planning, budgeting, and/or trade spend processes that drives execution that delivers high impact. 
  • Embrace collaboration amongst the sales leadership team by working effectively with colleagues on aligned objectives and provide leadership & direction for the business, sharing best practices and addressing business challenges openly.  
  • Create a motivated and engaged team through effective recruiting, coaching and development, focused on achieving sales targets, work collaboratively on aligned goals to optimized sales opportunities
  • Establish a team culture built on continuous improvement to effectively improve the way work is done through ownership and accountability.
  • Make decisions based on facts, logic and experience with key consideration of scope and scale of opportunities, be confident to take appropriate business risk and support employees on decision making process. 
  • Active participation in, and ownership of, Monthly Business Planning Process (MBP) and the development and implementation of the national Integrated Commercial Plan, working collaboratively with cross-functional partners to create effective plans that will deliver sustainable and profitable growth. 
  • Navigate difficult and complex social situations internally and externally. Example: curiosity, actively listening, understand and be open minded to other perspectives, getting to root cause and determining the most appropriate response in the moment to get to the most desirable outcome for all involved.
  • Adhere to all company principles, policies, including safety and local regulations including administrative processes and requirements (e.g. expense submissions, FHF safety reporting, vehicle maintenance and reporting, completion of mandatory training, meeting defined deadlines, etc.)

 

Role Requirements 

  • Minimum 5 years of successful sales or related business experience, preferably in the Specialty Vitamin, Minerals and Supplement industry; Naturopathic and/or holistic nutrition background strongly desired (background in health and wellness, nutrition, or supplements is an asset)          
  • Previous experience leading and developing others in a management capacity                                                                                                            
  • Post Secondary education in Business and or, Science
  • Valid full driver’s license and safe driving record is required. Open to frequently travel to work with and coach you team nationally – up to 40% travel required.
  • Computer literacy and expertise in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective communication and strong leadership skills are required to express analytics and deliver presentations to various levels within the organization
  • Excellent leadership abilities, fostering collaboration and strong interpersonal skills 
  • Outstanding organizational skills, effective time management, exceptional prioritization abilities, proficient in project management, with a keen eye for detail
