Position Summary

We are looking for a Category and Shopper Development Manager based at our Head Office location in North York reporting into the Category and Shopper Development Leader, Confectionary.  We are looking for a high performer, with analytical capabilities, problem solving and strategic planning skills to drive our category and shopper strategies within the Confectionary category to deliver agreed objectives/targets. 

A day in the life of...

  • Provides leadership in Integrated Commercial Planning (ICP) process for the Confectionary Bars category, driving category narrative, linkage to demand moments and drivers, effectively working on strategy with marketing for deliverables on playbooks, ensuring customer/channel centric 
  • Owns key updates to Sales playbook components ongoing, including channel strategy and dynamic updates of 4P’s 
  • Leads annual analysis on pricing and promotion opportunities within the category from external and internal perspective
  • Measures the execution of the playbook and plan assumptions and adjusts accordingly (Building Block and Assumption tracking)
  • Drives alignment with Activation Manager, Shopper Marketing Team and Retail Digital Marketing planning providing input to Omni/new channel development strategies and tactics to support future growth 
  • Create/implement an approach to managing key customers strategically, efficiently, and effectively across the value chain (“Winning with Customers”)
  • Supports customer calls as required to drive category growth narrative and category strategy & opportunities
  • Leads Category Alignment Team Calls with sales for the category
  • Supports Revenue Manager in Customer Investment Strategy, including TTS controls working to improve effectiveness and efficiency of investments within a defined framework for ROI
  • Collaborates with supply chain resources as an input into the sales forecast, proactively addresses pressure points in future with Demand and Supply Planning Team and Sales
  • Collaborates and supports Sales Lead on annual and scenario planning; manages R&O providing approvals aligned to go-to-market strategy
  • Represents CSD in I2L/product commercialization and owner of Channel Pack and Pricing Strategy formulation, documentation, and communication 
  • Lead sales recommendations for ongoing sku rationalization and optimization (BPO)

What will make you successful

  • A university degree in a business-related discipline combined with at least 6 years in progressive sales and/or marketing role. Account Management experience an asset
  • Proven problem-solving skills using deductive reasoning and identifying gaps in logic
  • Highly developed entrepreneurial spirit
  • Highly developed analytical skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of Shopper and Analytics
  • Consumer Packaged Goods industry experience preferred with demonstrated strategic planning experience and strong knowledge of the retail environment, ideally across all channels, including Grocery, Mass, Drug, Out of Home and Convenience 
  • Must be comfortable in working within a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • An ability to manage several complex priorities with strict deadlines and attention to detail
  • Extremely Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
