Position Summary
We are looking for a Sensory Team Leader based at our North York location for a 18 Month Contract. The successful candidate will provide Sensory knowledge to ensure success in Innovation and Renovation (I&R) activities throughout the project stages, from Identify to Deliver. Provide support to Market Head Office, Technical Applications Groups (AG) and Factories to aid the decision-making process. Manage the Sensory unit/group and facilities and continuously seeks for improving Sensory Evaluation methods and promoting the use of Sensory Evaluation in Innovation/Renovation and Product Quality Management.
A day in the life of...
As a Sensory Team Leader you will be working on all of our exciting Nestle brands. This role is a great opportunity to lead the sensory brand plans and strategy to bring growth to the category. You will be working daily with cross-functional teams to make your plans come to life with lots of autonomy and support to really thrive. You will be empowered to inspire and guide innovation and influence business strategy across Nestlé Canada brands.
You will also:
- Provide sensory insights to I&R projects:
- Act as a proactive partner in the Innovation and Renovation process guiding consumer and sensory insights support to add value and influence project's success.
- Play an active part in cross-functional project teams within Canadian Market/AG
- Provide guidance on choice and use of sensory evaluation methodologies and support to consumer testing methodologies.
- Manage and execute sensory analyses with excellence (panel management) and support consumer preference studies:
- Define clear and time-bounded sensory plans.
- Manage sensory studies: plan, design, then analyse and present results in line with best practices, correlate with consumer research findings as required, and with impact to the cross-functional team.
- Ensure collaboration with Sensory Team and external agencies in order to ensure lean and transparent execution.
- Ensure Sensory supports continuous improvement and team development:
- Apply Nestle Quality Management process to ensure continuous improvement for sensory support.
- Ensure high quality results through panel maintenance and performance and participate in the recruitment and training of panel members.
- Coach Sensory Team to reach excellence in execution and autonomy.
- Supporting Quality Management to ensure Products Sensory Consistency
- Sensory collaborates with Quality Management (HO and Factory), Applications Groups and Consumer Services teams providing and coordinating sensory assistance & expertise to:
- Guide Quality Management for sensory defect elimination & Collaborate with Quality Group to design the sensory program for factories
- Train the factory sensory analysts and assist them with all factory sensory evaluation activities and the implementation of In/Out test in factories. Providing support to compliance verification of sensory evaluation in factories
- Implementing the factory sensory program
- The sensory function supports factory management's sensory objectives
- The sensory function supports factory management's sensory objectives

• University Degree in Food Science, Food Technology or equivalent, preferably with a major in Sensory Evaluation.
• 3 to 5 years experience in a Sensory Evaluation position, preferably for a food, flavour, or beverage company.
• Working knowledge of discrimination, descriptive methods and some consumer test methods
• Experience in recruiting, training and managing a sensory panel
• Proficiency in experimental design and statistical analysis of sensory tests
• Working knowledge of computers and of dedicated software for sensory data acquisition and/or analysis
