Position Summary
We are looking for a Regional Chef based in the Greater Montreal Area reporting into the Regional Sales Manager. This role will provide experienced culinary leadership and best-in-class culinary support to Nestlé Professional’s (NP) East division. This position is required to contribute towards volume growth for Nestlé Professional products by means of growing existing business and securing new business. The Regional Chef in this position will have a deep understanding of a customer’s business and be able to develop impactful relationships resulting in measurable and significant financial advantage to our business.
A day in the life of a Regional Chef:
Recipe Development
- Generate trends-based ideas (within NP capabilities) and translate and adapt these ideas to our customer operations
- Research, create, write, and test recipes for clients and internal use
- Assist clients in the development of new menus & culinary programs utilizing NP products
Product Application
- Organize, schedule and conduct on-site & off-site demonstrations with clients to illustrate the benefits of various NP products and their potential applications in clients menu
- For off-site training sessions communicate with site-management, procure, produce and ship food supplies as well as training materials to site on a timely fashion
- Conduct training of the regional sales team, food broker's team and clients' teams on food preparations and applicable techniques
Knowledge Leadership
- Maintain current and up-to-date knowledge on evolving culinary trends with focus on global and domestic influences and share key knowledge with internal stakeholders
- Taste and evaluate recipes with a strong ability to accurately communicate findings using sensory-based languages
Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain deep relationships with key decision makers on our customer teams with emphasis and focus on culinary team members
- Keep current on all key development in the customers' operations that impact our business with special focus on current competitive food offering and pending food, equipment, and menu changes
Events & Shows
- Together with the assigned sales colleague plan and execute NP's participation in regional trade shows and industry events
- When required, assist the Corporate Chef for NP's participation in the industry events and shows in the central region
- Lead the regional roll-out of Nestlé corporate activities like the celebration of International Chefs Day
Internal Collaboration
- Work in collaboration with the Corporate Chef, liaise and consult regarding client ideation sessions, and share feedback
What will make you successful?
- Six years of relevant experience as an Executive/ Corporate Chef, and experience in a food manufacturing culinary position is an asset
- Red Seal Certification or equivalent is required
- A degree in Culinary Arts or Food Science related discipline will be an advantage
- Experience across multiple channels of food service preferred
- Valid full driver’s license is required; ability to travel (may be up to 70%) across the East region
- Must be bi-lingual (French and English)
- Have knowledge of menu development, recipe creation and interpretation skills
- Strong culinary techniques, flavour delivery and menu creation processes with an understanding of global cuisine influence on modern cooking
- Possess good presentation skills both verbal articulation and demonstrative
- Have good organizational/project management skills and the ability to correctly prioritize projects
- Be a self-starter: i.e. be able to identify opportunities, develop and nurture key relationships, analyse & develop solutions with little information and/ or direction, work with minimal supervision
- Strong business development mindset
