Position Summary

The IT Program Management Senior Specialist manages a program and/or project to ensure it delivers expected and aligned Business Case to the IT and/or Business Sponsors, on time, on budget, on scope and on quality that may be clearly defined upfront or may require dynamic and iterative scoping, delivery and change management (agile program management), adhering to established program and project management methodologies.

A day in the life of an IT Program Management Senior Specialist

As an IT Program Management Senior Specialist, you will be responsible for leading and driving discovery through to design with the Assembly Team of IT and/or Business resources to then build the Business Case with comprehensive budget planning for final submission and approval. 

You will also:

  • Be responsible to structure the program/project, plan, budget, execute, monitor, control and close it, ensuring quality and integrity of the information across the enterprise.
  • Take accountability for ensuring execution of sub-projects/activities to the delivered outcome.
  • Manage program/project level risks, quality and procurement
  • Lead the program/project team and is the person that program/project level resources report directly to for the execution of the program/project tasks you are allocated. This includes project managers of sub-projects which are part of the program/project and applies across Zones/Businesses and/or IT.  
  • Consult on other initiatives by helping with leading Discovery process through to Business Case creation/submission and project structuring.  
  • Conduct Quality Assurance Project Evaluation and help in rescue/recovery efforts on initiatives needing help.
  • Be responsible for helping build up the capability of the PM Community in NA.

  • Have leadership skills and experience with End-to-End mindset ownership & driving proactive approach to ensuring successful program/project deliverable 
  • Have leadership skills and track record in developing people in particular in managing virtual teams. 
  • Manage cultural diversity: respect for various cultures and understanding how to work with a variety of cultures in the most effective way. 
  • Have strong stakeholder management in project/program management role
  • Maintain increasing development of business intimacy and business language to effectively engage and demonstrate business understanding and priority with the Business sponsor and Business project team
  • Have strong integration skills to strategically integrate across multiple functions within IT and/or the Business to effectively drive Discovery through to Design and execution of the program/project through to successful delivery
  • Have strong communication skills (written and verbal). Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
  • Have strong English communication skills (written and verbal) to appropriately and effectively articulate status and concerns at all levels in the organization--with senior leaders through to project team members and third-party service/solution providers.
  • Have a strong ability to manage through ambiguity by proactively anticipating issues, needs, concerns, risks, leveraging program/project methodologies as a tool to ensure alignment to goals and objectives of the program/project, protecting the execution of the project to deliver the outcome as expected of the Business Case while adhering to the scope, budget, timeline, and quality of the delivery.
  • Have strong facilitation skills and critical thinking skills to effectively manage and resolve issues, and/or conflicts in a cross-functional environment; able to lead teams and the program/project through crisis management that builds confidence and enables collaboration at all levels in the organization
  • Have strong ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and with experience to dynamically prioritize and re-prioritize work for her/himself and the program/project team as appropriate
  • Have experience working in a matrix organization in a global environment with virtual teams including external partners
  • Have strong development of influencing skills and ability to leverage in interactions at all levels of the matrix organization to ensure program/project execution moves forward towards successful delivery
  • Have experience in managing change/transitions. 
  • Have substantial consulting leadership experience considered a plus
