What to Expect:

As Senior Director, Human Resources, you will be the senior-most people leader for the standalone Ice Cream business in Canada and a member of the business leadership team. Partnering directly with the President of Ice Cream, you will set and lead the end-to-end people agenda across talent, organization design, employee and labour relations, total rewards, payroll, HR governance and change leadership. This position is a brand-new role.

 

A day in the life:

As Senior Director, Human Resources, you will partner closely with the President of Ice Cream and the Ice Cream Leadership Team to build organizational capability, establish standalone people practices and ensure the HR function supports the business effectively. This highly visible role requires both strategic direction-setting and hands-on execution, including building processes, solving issues, coaching leaders and supporting employees through change.

 

You will also:

  • Serve as the senior people advisor to the President of Ice Cream and the Ice Cream Leadership Team on business strategy, organization effectiveness, culture, leadership and employee matters.
  • Develop and execute the Canadian People Strategy, aligning talent, culture, organization, labour and HR priorities with business objectives and growth ambitions.
  • Lead organizational design, workforce planning, talent reviews, succession planning and leadership development.
  • Lead the labour relations strategy across unionized manufacturing operations, including collective bargaining, grievance management and arbitration support.
  • Build constructive relationships with union leadership and other key employee relations stakeholders.
  • Lead transformation, restructuring, integration and change management initiatives, translating strategy into practical action.
  • Oversee total rewards, recognition, wellness, payroll, HR governance and core people processes, with a focus on reliable standalone practices and continuity during transition.
  • Use people data and insights to guide decisions, identify risks and improve organizational performance.
  • Build a high-performing, inclusive culture that strengthens the employee experience.
  • Manage the HR budget, external providers, payroll partners and internal HR team members, including the HR Manager supporting the London factory.

 

Role Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations or a related field; a master's degree is an asset.
  • A CHRL or CHRE designation is preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience.
  • Significant experience partnering with senior executives and leadership teams.
  • Proven experience supporting unionized manufacturing or industrial operations.
  • Demonstrated success leading collective bargaining and complex employee relations matters.
  • Experience leading organizational transformation, mergers, acquisitions, integrations or large-scale change.
  • Experience working in a lean, fast-paced organization where strategic leadership, hands-on execution and comfort with ambiguity are equally important.
  • Multi-site Canadian experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong executive presence, commercial acumen, emotional intelligence and the ability to influence at all levels.

Compensation Range: CAD 155,000 – CAD 203,000 + bonus eligibility
