What to Expect:
We are seeking a Sustainability Manager based in our North York office, reporting to the Sustainability Director. This role is responsible for shaping Nestlé Canada’s approach to Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), regulatory readiness, and sustainability claims governance.
The Sustainability Manager brings together strong policy expertise, commercial acumen, and influencing skills to proactively manage regulatory, reputational, and business risk while enabling value creation for the business and customers. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and cross functional teams, the role ensures alignment between sustainability strategy, regulatory requirements, claims substantiation, and external advocacy, while maintaining consistency with Zone and Global sustainability frameworks.
In addition, the role supports and delivers sustainability programs, employee engagement initiatives, and events with external community stakeholders. The Sustainability Manager also plays a key role in rolling out sustainability tools and resources that support functions and categories on their sustainability journeys.

A day in the life of a Sustainability Manager:
• Manage EPR programs for Nestlé Canada ensuring compliance with provincial producer responsibility requirements while identifying opportunities for efficiency, risk mitigation, and value creation.
• Monitor, interpret, and assess emerging sustainability-related regulations and disclosure requirements, advising the business on impacts, trade-offs, and readiness actions.
• Act as internal authority on sustainability claims governance, working closely with Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, and Corporate Affairs to ensure credible, substantiated, and compliant sustainability communications.
• Regularly communicate a high-level summary on the areas of responsibility, including reporting, insights and dashboards to Sustainability Director and SVP Corporate Affairs.
• Liaise with other market businesses, Nespresso and Purnia Petcare, to ensure alignment and timely communication. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Technical Packaging, Regulatory Affairs, Legal and Business Units to execute regulatory obligations, and act as subject matter expert.
• Represent Nestlé Canada in external forums, industry associations, and regulatory consultations as a spokesperson and advocate, building partnerships and articulating business positions.
• Support the development and deployment of sustainability tools, resources, and capability-building initiatives that enable functions and categories to deliver on sustainability commitments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Technical Packaging, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Finance & Control, Operations, Sales, and Business Units to integrate sustainability requirements into ways of working.
• Lead the Employee Sustainability Committee and deliver sustainability programs and events that embed a strong culture of sustainability across employees, youth initiatives, and external community stakeholders.
Role Requirements
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in sustainability or a related field such as government or regulatory affairs, preferably Canada-wide business experience.
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental studies, regulatory/public affairs, or other related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of EPR regulations and sustainability disclosure requirements.
• A credible leader that can impact across the organization with commercial and/or technical professional qualification. Work experience in related fields and passion for sustainability are a must.
• Demonstrated ability to operate strategically, influence senior stakeholders, and translate complex regulatory topics into clear, data-driven, business-relevant insights.
• Proven experience working cross-functionally in a complex organization, with strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Compensation Range: $100,000 – 115,000 CAD
