The Nestlé Plant Science Research Unit located in the Loire Valley in Tours (France), is part of the Nestlé Research Organization whose main center is located in Lausanne, Switzerland. Nestlé Research combines fundamental science at the highest level, high-end analytical platforms leveraged by all research teams, and strong capabilities to accelerate the translation of science into innovation. Nestlé Research published around 1000 scientific publications in peer review journals over the last five years, and files about 80 patents every year. Nestlé Research collaborates with approximately 100 universities or research institutes around the world. The Plant Science team, builds knowledge on strategic crops with the aim of developing new plant materials in order to deliver quality products through better and sustainable farming. 
 

Position snapshot

•    Temporary contract – 18 months
•    Plant Science Research Unit – Tours (37) 
•    Ph.D. or master’s degree with at least 2- 3 years of experience in plant physiology, plant nutrition, horticulture, plant biochemistry or agronomy.
•    Base salary to be defined according to profile + bonus + profit-sharing; attractive employee savings scheme

As a Plant Physiologist Specialist, you contribute to plant nutrition and plant growth in alignment with Nestlé's commitment on sustainability and climate change. 


 

Your missions

•    Contribute to the exploration, development and implementation of best practices related to plant nutrition & plant growth leading to the increase of the quality of the harvested raw material (seeds, roots, leaves, fruits etc ..) combined with innovative solutions to reduce carbon footprint. 
•    Evaluate different plant growth systems (field, in-door, greenhouse, hydroponic, vertical farming) in relation with raw material quality & composition
•    Develop external networks and collaboration to speed up our projects and identify the most promising technologies to quantify, analyze and predict raw material quality & composition
•    Bring and share your expertise in the management of multidisciplinary projects integrating soil management, plant nutrition & growth, plant genetics & diversity, raw material quality for food application.
•    Communicate your results, building appropriate reports and oral presentations and proposals.
 

What will make you successful

• You have a strong knowledge of the relationships between plant growth conditions, plant nutrition, raw material composition (macro & micronutrients). Knowledge related to cereals and pulses would be a plus.
• You are able to manage large data analysis based on good knowledge and skills with R software for statistics
• Open minded, you are an excellent team player 
• You have solid analytical and critical thinking 
• You demonstrate professional written and verbal communication skills in English. French is a plus. 
• You are ready to travel occasionally
