Position summary

As a key member of our factory leadership team, the Site Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Officer will collaborate closely with the Factory Manager and other department leaders to uphold and enhance our safety and environmental management systems. This role is crucial for maintaining compliance with all relevant internal and external guidelines, ensuring our operations align with sustainability goals and preserve our company's reputation.
You will engage actively with cross-functional teams, including the Market SHE Officer, to foster and execute initiatives that drive continual advancements in our safety and environmental performance. Your responsibilities will include developing comprehensive strategies, training and coaching staff, and integrating safety and health standards throughout our factory operations.
This position plays a pivotal role in influencing site-wide safety practices and environmental compliance, positioning you at the heart of our efforts to optimize operational excellence and reduce environmental impact.

 

A day in the life of...

  • Strategic Oversight and Policy Development: Develop and maintain a comprehensive strategy for Occupational Health, Safety, Risk, and Environment, including the creation of policies and standards. Set up specialized working groups to align with legal and company requirements.
  • Performance Management and Compliance: Implement a risk management policy with contingency plans, establish performance metrics, and monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards through regular audits and annual reporting.
  • Training and Organizational Support: Offer continuous advice and training on health, safety, and environmental issues. Ensure all staff are trained and competent in their safety responsibilities, aligning with company and legal standards.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate health, safety, and environmental activities across the site, providing management with analysis on accidents and advising on preventive and corrective measures.
  • Operational and Technical Oversight: Manage technical safety functions and emergency procedures, ensuring operational teams are properly equipped and trained.
  • Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Establish and manage safety-related budgets and CapEx investments.
  • Continuous Improvement and Best Practices: Conduct regular reviews and inspections to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring compliance with international standards ISO 45001. ISO 14001 and ISO 50001. Promote continuous improvement through behavior-based safety and efficient resource management.

 
What will make you successful

  • University Degree in Engineering or in any other relevant field.
  • Credentials such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or certifications in environmental management systems like ISO 14001 and occupational health and safety standards like ISO 45001 or NEBOSH would be considered and asset.
  • Ideally 3-5 years of experience in safety, health, and environmental roles within manufacturing or industrial sectors, with demonstrated success in policy development and program implementation.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and legislation, proficiency in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and emergency response planning.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience in training and motivating diverse teams; ability to lead cross-functional safety initiatives and influence safety culture.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, necessary for effective collaboration and reporting across various levels of an organization.
  • Robust analytical skills to identify risks and devise effective solutions, coupled with a strong problem-solving aptitude to address safety challenges and implement strategic interventions.
  • Exceptional organizational capabilities with a focus on detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities, fostering a proactive approach to health, safety, and environmental management.
  • Project management experience, including the demonstrated ability to create project timeline and to make such a timeline get delivered on time.
  • Highly energetic with a desire to engage in shopfloor activities to support capability building events.
  • Fluency in Greek & English
