Position Summary   
 
The Nestlé System Technology Centre (NSTC) in Orbe is Nestlé’s leading R&D centre for the design, development and deployment of Nestlé delivery systems, offering expertise in machines, packaging and products for in-home and out-of-home.

As a (Senior) R&D Specialist Packaging, you will propose innovative ideas, lead and manage packaging projects. You will conduct trials and studies, support competency development, and ensure safety and continuous improvement. In this position you will be part of an innovative team and contribute to Nestlé and Nespresso packaging of tomorrow.

A Day in the Life of a (Senior) R&D Specialist Packaging 
 

• Propose innovative ideas in packaging design, material selection and methods packaging characterization. 
• Lead packaging projects with suppliers, conduct trials at Nestlé factory, and evaluate environmental impact. 
• Plan and deliver projects for NSTC under team leader's guidance. 
• Manage projects according to business briefs, close stage gates on time and within budget, and perform risk assessment analysis. 
• Conduct trials, externalize studies, generate reports, and protect ideas with patents to build Nestlé's competitive edge. 
• Support competency development, disseminate best practices, utilize training materials, activate networks, develop tools, and ensure safety and continuous improvement. 

 
What will make you successful 
 

• R&D Packaging Engineer with expertise in packaging and converting processes (paper / plastics / rigid and flexible packaging) 
• 5-10 years’ R&D experience with proven track record in leading innovative packaging projects 
• Experience in Project management for packaging development and industrialization at factories, experience in DMAIC / Green Belt is a plus 
• Excellent communication in English (written/spoken) 
• Innovative mindset and problem-solving skills 
• Ability to understand complex concepts and translate them into specific methods and solutions 
• Team player mindset with sense of ownership
