Position Summary  

 

The Nestlé Product Technology Centre Coffee (NPTC Coffee) is the leading R&D organization that discovers, develops and deploys coffee and beverage products and technologies for in-home and out-of-home consumption. It consists of units in Konolfingen (CH), Marysville (USA), Orbe (CH) and Singapore and provides new products and processes to all Nestlé markets worldwide.

As a Digital and Automation Manager for Operations Engineering, you will lead a team of around 10 people (7 direct reports) with the main purpose to support and drive the standardization and innovation of Manufacturing Execution Systems-Automation in the Coffee category. As such, you will ensure relevant support and guidance is given to Markets for digital tools deployment, modeling, and process automation solutions, in compliance with corporate guidelines while prioritizing product quality, operational performance, and safety. You will also be responsible for defining the digital strategy.

A Day in the Life of a Digital and Automation Manager for Operations Engineering

 

  • Lead different digital related projects to drive industrialization towards excellence providing operational support to factories/markets and implementing new technologies through equipment in strict respect and compliance of SHE and food safety policies and regulations.
  • Support TCU SMEs in establishing the priority digital and automation solutions to enhance equipment performance and optimize conversion costs.
  • Prepare technical deployment of the agreed digital solutions for manufacturing processes.
  • Support deployment of digital standards for the category in alignment with Group directives.
  • Ensure mastership of product and process feeding in enhanced technology pipeline, training modules and digital catalogue solutions, participating in engineering expertise networks within R&D in order to drive fast innovation scale up, and continuously striving for the improvement of quality, safety or efficiency.
  • Establish and drive network with markets, factory experts and R&D community to promote, benchmark and drive common initiatives.
  • Lead and develop your team, strategically managing resources, competence levels and priority settings.

 

What will make you successful

 

  • Master’s degree in engineering.
  • Proven track record in Digital engineering in a manufacturing facility, specifically within industries at the forefront of technological advancement.
  • Deep understanding of the latest digital engineering tools, practices and methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of instrumentation and process control, man/machine interfaces, communication, computer hardware, etc.
  • Knowledge in modeling.
  • Knowledge of TPM principles is a big plus.
  • Undeniable leadership skills and ability to develop a team of experts.
  • Strong analytical skills in problem-solving.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence stakeholders of all levels/backgrounds.
  • Passionate about adding value for consumers, brands, and the business.
  • Fluent in English.
