Position Summary 

The Nestlé Product Technology Centre Coffee (NPTC Coffee) is the leading R&D organization that discovers, develops and deploys coffee and beverage products and technologies for in-home and out-of-home consumption. It consists of units in Konolfingen (CH), Marysville (USA), Orbe (CH) and Singapore and provides new products and processes to all Nestlé markets worldwide.

As a R&D Senior Packaging Specialist, you will drive and develop packaging materials with suppliers, ensuring they meet consumer needs, market trends, and sustainability goals. You will also deliver technical specifications, documentation, and manage stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, while staying updated on packaging technologies and creatively applying them within the Coffee portfolio.

A Day in the Life of a R&D Senior Packaging Specialist

• Manage end-to-end packaging development projects, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution and timely delivery of new packaging initiatives
• Collaborate with suppliers to develop innovative packaging solutions, ensuring they meet our quality standards and align with our sustainability commitments
• Proactively identify areas of innovation and translate creative and effective packaging concepts into actionable projects
• Develop comprehensive project proposals, including thorough evaluations and tangible prototypes, and present them to senior management and stakeholders
• Effectively manage stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring cross-functional alignment and collaboration with teams such as R&D, marketing, technical, operations, and finance
• Stay knowledgeable and informed about the latest developments in the packaging industry, actively seeking out new technologies and packaging trends, and incorporating them into consumer-centric packaging concepts aligned with our business objectives

What will make you successful

• Master in Packaging Engineering, Material Engineering or equivalent
• Extensive successful experience of over 6 years in packaging, with a preference for R&D 
• Demonstrated superior project management skills, including coordination and planning, gained from leading or contributing to interdisciplinary project teams in previous roles
• Proficient stakeholder management skills at all levels within an organization
• Excellent leadership abilities, with strong communication and influencing skills, including the confidence and persuasiveness to effectively pitch ideas and articulate a plan
• Proactive and tenacious, actively seeking opportunities to bring ideas to life
• Forward-thinker, with an innovative mindset and drive and strong awareness of sustainability
• Sensitivity to consumer-centric packaging, understanding the importance of meeting consumer needs and market trends
• Fluency in English
