Position Summary 

 

As an R&D Specialist in Electronics Hardware, you will be responsible for driving innovation, development, and renovation of electronic hardware (PCBA and sensors) across all Nespresso beverage systems. You will lead the design architecture, ensuring best‑in‑class electronics that meet demanding quality, reliability, safety, and compliance standards. Working closely with procurement, operations, suppliers, and cross‑functional teams, you will secure modular, and future‑ready hardware solutions delivered On Time, On Quality, and On Cost. You will define and validate hardware requirements and specifications while supporting external partners and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless integration, while guardrail critical knowledge.

 

A Day in the Life of an R&D Specialist in Electronics Hardware

 

  • Apply SHE rules and promote continuous improvement in Safety, Health, and Environment practices
  • Define and own electronics architecture for new and renovated Nespresso machines
  • Manage PCB requirements, specifications, BOM optimization, COGS assessments and validation plans
  • Create standardized hardware modules, reference designs, and design rules across projects
  • Troubleshoot issues during development, testing, and industrialization phases
  • Provide technical guidance to external design partners and EMS teams
  • Conduct accurate risk assessments, lead design reviews, and secure gate approvals
  • Collaborate with chip manufacturers to manage roadmaps and prevent component obsolescence
  • Contribute to development workflows, briefs, UX/HMI, firmware, and connectivity interfaces

 

What will make you successful

 

  • Extensive experience in electronics hardware development, ideally in consumer appliances
  • Experience with EMS operations and offshore manufacturing environments, preferably in China
  • Strong expertise in EMC/ESD testing, safety certifications, and DFMEA methodologies
  • Proven record in hardware design, industrialization, and troubleshooting for high‑volume appliances
  • Prior engagement with semiconductor suppliers and active involvement in technology scouting
  • English fluency; French and/or German is an asset
