Position Summary

 

As a R&D Specialist, you will establish and build competence in key technologies/processes/beverage systems development according to project briefs and stage gates by applying functional knowledge, skills and experience to support product innovation and renovation teams from inception through industrialization. You will support teams in break-through beverage systems and ensuring food safety, regulatory compliance, on time launch and within cost limits as well as build your expertise and apply your knowledge in the field to provide relevant scientific/technical guidance in response to business, customers and consumer needs. One of your other tasks will be to manage a medium R&D project with a high impact on the business and lead a cross-functional project team to develop, industrialize and implement new systems. You will also have to interact proactively with the other functions, especially the business lead and operations to ensure the overall project objectives.

A day in the life of a R&D Specialist

 

  • Innovation / renovation pipeline:
    • Deliver innovative systems within defined quality at defined time and cost
    • Ensure and take personal responsibility for quality by design and system safety by applying best practices across the value chain (internally and at external partners)
    • Ensure adequate resources and competence levels, manage the resources (including budget) allocated to the project
  • Project management: 
    • Propose, plan and deliver technical and scientific of standard projects at NSTC (detailed planning, use of risk assessment tools/risk assessment workshop)
    • Manage knowledge building and project activities with initiative and is familiar with selection and prioritization tools and can apply them to his own project
    • Ensure all stage gates are closed timely and within project costs, performs risk assessment analysis and early equipment warning
    • Coordinate / cooperate with internal departments for the validation and approval of new solutions / correctives actions 
  • Technical assistance: 
    • Provide technical assistance during the ramp-up of factories of OEMs, organization and co-ordination of live cycle test, root cause analysis, proposal and implementation of corrective actions with 3rd parties
    • Give support to customers, assistance in industrialization start-ups, follow-up system launches, including technical and system improvements
  • People and know-how: 
    • Good in interaction and collaboration with the team and across R&D Units, Business with external partners
    • Create synergies through effective networking with all relevant R&D Units, business partners, markets, SBUs, Head Office

What will make you successful

 

  • Engineering education (BA or MSc) in mechanical, microtechnical, or others engineering degrees
  • 4 to 7 years of R&D work experience in product development and industrialization preferably in mass produced consumer goods/ household appliances
  • Minimum of 3 years PM experience in competitive and complex environment
  • Proven communication skills (confidence and conviction in presenting to steering committees)
  • Experience in plastic injection is an asset                                                                        
  • Able to go on business trips/ outside CH
