Position Summary
As an R&D Subject Matter Expert in Sustainability & Environmental programs across all categories, including in-home and out-of-home beverage dispensers, you will actively shape the sustainability strategy of Nestle Systems in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and ensure its implementation across our businesses and in cross functional teams.
Reporting to the Machine Competence Head, with an end-to-end responsibility to deliver sustainable solutions ,you will be fundamental to innovate and change the way sustainability is embedded in our beverage dispensers solutions and design mindset. You will be advocating for change internally and with our suppliers and partners to support the implementation of Nestlé’s corporate commitment on sustainability.
You will develop, implement and drive cross-functionally the strategy for product sustainability, govern sustainable product design through our innovation and development stage gate processes, keep and advocate a consumer centric approach, support corporate sustainability, and operations functions via the implementation of design strategies across the portfolio.

A day in the life of an R&D Subject Matter Expert in Sustainability & Environmental
- Liase with stakeholders and team to ensure inclusion and alignment on the suitainability strategy elaboration and execution.
- Support Department Head and collaborate with other subject matter experts from various fields improving technology building blocks, use cases and sustainability while moving the Department toward becoming a lean unit
- Identify resources and means to ensure success of the projects: planning, budget (equipment, manpower, financial)
- Challenge and benchmark internally and externally, projects, programs, procedures and way of working
- Evaluate technical options and decide on technical route to be chosen with the advice of the Department Head and close collaboration of other subject matter experts from various fields based on risk and opportunities assessment
- Finalize technical development. Design and integration to sustainability, cost, and standards
- Act as Subject Matter Expert in the coordination between internal and external project stakeholders (Start-ups, Component suppliers, OEMs, Development offices, universities, and technology clusters).
- Active trends scouting and competition watch in the defined areas and tech fields
- Define, develop and deploy Ecosystem to address the full value chain, Lifecycle of the system
- Ensure that all the development processes and modern development tools are used, leveraging on the NSTC Quality
What will make you successful
- University degree in material sciences, sustainability, mechanical or electrical engineering
- More than 10 years professional experience in the field of sustainability for small electric appliances (consumer goods)
- Proven experience in durable goods industry with track records
- Strong experience in project management and tools: e.g.: PMP, Agile
- Certification in the field of sustainability is a strong plus
- Solid organizational skills and capacity to collaborate and communicate with Stakeholders internal and external
- Business acumen, connecting internally, communicating, convincing stakeholders
- Customer oriented and objective driven
- Passionate about sustainability while living it every day
- Fluent in French and English, German an asset
