Position Summary
The Nestlé Product Technology Centre Coffee (NPTC Coffee) is the leading R&D organization that discover, develop and deploy coffee and beverage products and technologies for in-home and out-of-home consumption. It consists of units in Konolfingen (CH), Marysville (USA), Orbe (CH) and Singapore and provide new products and processes to all Nestlé markets worldwide.

As a Research Intern, you will study powder dissolution kinetics using a specialized probe, develop and propose optimization strategies to improve product reconstitution and consistency, and create a protocol to incorporate the probe into regular lab processes at Nestlé. This internship offers practical experience in R&D, experiment planning, data analysis, and project collaboration in an industrial environment.

A Day in the Life of a Research Intern
- Engaging with Various R&D Entities: Collaborating with different departments within the R&D center, such as the project team, science & technology team, pilot plant, workshop, and analytical laboratory
- Coordinating the Development of Experimental Setups: This role entails working alongside engineering and research teams to design, execute, and fine-tune experimental setups, ensuring results are precise and dependable.
- Learning How to Use Probes Instrumentation: Gaining knowledge and proficiency in operating the probes and instrumentation, which may include specialized equipment and data acquisition systems
- Defining Experimental Plan: Collaborating with the project team to create a well-structured experimental plan
- Analyzing Results: The intern will work closely with the science and lab teams to analyze the results. This could involve product characterization, statistical analysis, data interpretation, and drawing conclusions.
- Presenting Results: Communicating the findings to the extended project team through presentations or reports
What will make you successful
- Master Degree in relevant fields (e.g., chemical engineering, food science, materials science)
- Previous experience in rheology and flowability of powders is desirable
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques and equipment, particularly for dissolution kinetics, is a plus
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Proficiency in data analysis
- Effective planning and organization skills
- Clear presentation abilities
- Self-motivated and proactive nature
- Fluent in English and French (will be an asset)
