Position Summary  

The Nestlé System Technology Centre (NSTC) in Orbe is Nestlé’s leading R&D centre for the design, development and deployment of Nestlé delivery systems, offering expertise in machines, packaging and products for in-home and out-of-home.

As a Senior R&D Specialist in Nespresso Machine Development, you will lead projects in key technologies, processes and beverage systems development with high impact on the future commercial success of the Business. In this position, you will drive the development, innovation and renovation of beverage systems from inception through all stages of development ensuring food safety, regulatory compliance, on time launch and within cost limits. A Day in the Life of a Senior R&D Specialist in Nespresso Machine Development

• Ensure end to end project management in I2L to deliver innovative systems within defined quality at defined time and cost with adequate resources and competence levels
• Ensure and take personal responsibility for quality by design and system safety by applying best practices across the value chain (internally and also at external partners)
• Cooperate with the other departments i.e., product integration people/ packaging people and organize testing/tasting trials
• Lead and manage knowledge building and project activities in a proactive manner
• Master stakeholder management and presents results/methods in written and oral form to senior interested parties inside and outside of NSTC
• Coach other team members on I2L process and tools as well as risk management and prioritization tools
• Provide technical assistance during the ramp-up of factories of OEMs, organization and coordination of live cycle test, root cause analysis, proposal and implementation of corrective actions with 3rd parties
• Give support to customers, assistance in industrialization start-ups, follow-up system launches, including technical and system improvements

What will make you successful

• Engineering education (MSc or PHD) in mechanical, microtechnical, electrical or others engineering degrees
• 10+ years of R&D work experience in product development and industrialization in mass produced consumer goods/ household appliances
• Minimum of 8 years PM experience in competitive and complex environment
• Deep understanding of beverage dispensing systems and products and experience in whole bean/ extraction/ full automat is a plus
• Proven communication skills: confidence and conviction in presenting to steering committees
• Familiarity with CAD software 
• Familiarity with bench scale tests and prototyping
• Deep expertise in machine production methods and assembly process
• Deep knowledge and experience with key building blocks of a machine and machine intelligence
• Fluent in English
