The role reports directly to the R&D Expert in Applied metrology, in the group Smart Sensors and Robotics.

A Day in the Life of a Smart Manufacturing & Sensor Technologies Intern

  • Scouting, testing, and evaluating smart sensors for real‑time monitoring and process control
  • Setting up test benches and performing controlled trials in the pilot plant to validate sensor behaviour under realistic conditions
  • Running synchronized physical and chemical measurements to enable robust analysis and prediction
  • Assessing sensor robustness, trueness, and scalability for high‑speed pilot‑plant environments
  • Automating measurement and data‑acquisition workflows to strengthen pilot‑scale process control
  • Generating datasets to support process digitalization and modelling across bench equipment and pilot‑plant lines
  • Analysing collected data and preparing clear technical documentation and scientific summaries

What will make you successful

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master’s in Electronic, Physics, Robotics, Optics, Automation, Engineering Sciences or related field
  • Ability to independently plan, run, and troubleshoot experiments, while confidently interpreting data outcomes
  • Strong collaboration skills, enabling effective work with cross‑functional teams such as R&D, quality, engineering, and operations
  • Reliability in delivering tasks on time, with strict respect for lab safety, quality standards, and documentation procedures
  • Familiarity with sensor setup design, device connectivity, and data acquisition systems
  • Comfortable with data analysis tools (e.g., R, Python); experience with LabVIEW or similar software is a plus
  • Hands‑on experience with laboratory protocols, experimental methods, and metrology tools is a strong plus
  • Interest in novel smart sensors, MEMS technologies, and emerging manufacturing innovation

Nestlé is committed to the accessibility of its recruitment process. If you require an adaptation during the recruitment process, please do let us know so we can support you effectively. All information will be treated confidentially.
