Position Summary
As an intern, you will contribute to the development of next‑generation smart sensors integrated into wearable devices, with a focus on non‑invasive monitoring technologies. You will support the scouting, testing, and evaluation of sensor technologies (optical, electrical, bio impedance, and spectroscopic), generate high‑quality synchronized data, and help assess sensor robustness and scalability for real‑world applications. The position offers hands‑on exposure to sensor integration, data acquisition, and early‑stage AI‑driven analysis, at the interface between hardware, software, and consumer health innovation.
This role offers a hands‑on introduction to wearable sensor development at the intersection of hardware, data, and consumer health, and exposure to how early‑stage technologies can be translated toward scalable industrial and consumer applications
The role reports directly to the R&D Expert in the Innovation Acceleration group.
A Day in the Life of a Smart Sensors and Embedded Systems Development Intern
- Scouting and evaluating emerging smart sensor technologies for wearable integration
- Development of Electronics, Firmware and Software to control the sensors
- Development of Laboratory setups related to the targeted application
- Performing bench‑scale and pilot‑level testing of sensor systems
- Generating and synchronizing physical sensor data for further analysis
- Assessing robustness, repeatability, and scalability of sensors for real‑world deployment
- Supporting connectivity, automation, and data acquisition workflows in wearable systems
- Analyzing collected data and preparing clear technical documentation and reports
What will make you successful
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master’s in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Robotics, Micro-Technics or related field
- Ability to develop firmware and software with C++, Python, Micro-Python language, (Linux being a +)
- Knowledge of Edge AI Environments and Tools is plus
- Ability to plan, run, and troubleshoot experiments, while confidently interpreting data outcomes
- Strong collaboration skills, enabling effective work with cross‑functional teams in the Deep Tech and Nestlé Research Center
- Familiarity with sensor setup design, device connectivity, embedded system and data acquisition systems
- Hands‑on experience with mechanical design experience is a plus
- Interest in novel smart sensors, MEMS technologies, and bio sensors
- Fluency in English, written and spoken
